Damn he's small, I kinda like the scaling though.

In this particular case it doesn't bother me, he looks good with the Decepticon Headmasters from Titans Return, but Astrotrain in particular for me is too short and that's why I'll be keeping the Titans Return version, along with Blitzwing and Octane in my display. Looking foward to Snapdragon!

    Way to small.
In the cartoon Apeface was the same size as Galvatron.

He is great but it is definitely more Titans Return than it is Siege.

It’s a nice figure. I would say lower your expectations slightly, but it’s certainly not bad at all. Ive seen some peeps say it feels dollar store knock off plastic quality, which is a big exaggeration, but there is definitely a different feel / texture to it.

If you got it for the $25 Amazon price you’ll be happy for sure.

    Certainly not.
It's far more siege than Titans Return.
With the subpar size and bird poo it fits in way more with the lower quality of the siege figures than it could ever with any of the great figures w got in TR.

That’s a shame. Apeface was such of a promising figure, and turned out to be a failure. I don’t know what Hasbro’s gig has been recently with clear plastic (almost the entire legs of the Praxian build, wheels, etc.), but it would be great if they stopped real soon. It’s going to stink when all of these WFC figures break in five years because of the poor construction decisions. Warden and the gang should really know better than this.
Apeface’s questionable white plastic, along with his mess of a beast mode just really bring this figure down. They slapped on joints to the G1 figure and called it a day.

Example of any lower quality siege it fits in with? Love it even if it feels like a combo left over from the 2 lines before it. Great homage to G1 Apeface. Size wise he is ok for me with the ape mode and robot mode . I dont think ill ever turn it into the jet even though those short wings are accurate to his G1 version. Cant want for Snapdragon!

Wow, everytime I hear something about this figure, it's something bad. UGH!

Either the peg is too big and/or the port is too small. Use a digital caliper to figure out which one (or both) is the problem.

Never had any intention of getting Apeface anyways. That white plastic is something awful. Even my son was like hard pass.

    Edit:
The more correct term is transparent (translucent is what the blast effects are). That doesn't appear to be the main fault but rather improper peg / port sizing.

Took some photos here and there since yesterday. So far I’m enjoying him very much. DC70C98F-D154-4662-9193-7E9074DF484A.jpeg AC7A7D3E-6E5C-446A-84E2-F33D6AA976CE.jpeg 09CDA861-702D-42FC-9FFA-7B3134AD30A6.jpeg 5D5543B6-9DF2-4409-80B9-E9708BFE63F7.jpeg

Got mine and it wasn't the pin that needed sanding, it was the hole the shield pegs into for jet or ape mode that needed enlarging. After that he's an awesome figure!

I can see how people are breaking that shield peg ... and I don't think it has anything to do with the plastic. You can sand it down, which will work just fine, or you can not push the peg in so deep (that's what she said) so that wiggling it out doesn't put any unneeded pressure on it. My two cents, experiences will vary I suppose.

I'm having a profoundly negative reaction to this toy. Maybe my expectations were too high? I was looking forward to it for months and find its engineering to be seriously weak and it doesn't look good in any mode. Nothing pegs in place in ape mode, and moving the ape head in any way will detach the sternum. The jet requires five different loose plastic flaps to peg together while none of them are solidly attached to anything - and clipping the nosecone in place took more excessive force than any toy I've bought in a good 15 years.

The toy was always going to be awkward and ugly; Apeface is supposed to be awkward and ugly. But both of his altmodes are so bad and the transformation so unenjoyable that I don't foresee myself keeping this toy.

Comparing this half-done mess to Springer - another triplechanger with the same size / parts / price - is just mind boggling.

With all due respect, you either have a very poor QC copy (as my first version was), or you’re transforming him incorrectly.

Everything pegs together solidly in beast mode. There is no way that moving the head can detach the sternum, if transformed properly. Have you had a look around the Siege Appreciation thread for pics on proper transformation?

Other than that, I agree that he has “lazy” engineering in the sense that this is largely another G1-with-joints design. As you say though, I’m oddly okay with that for Apeface for the reasons you mention above.
