I'm pretty sure I won't regret paying $115 + S/H for a figure about the size of a deluxe TF that used to cost $10, as it was compared to TF Animated Black Arachnia in one of the photos.

The robot mode torso may be transformed, but I just feel that it's not worth the value for it's size. I've paid less for better TFs that are much larger than this.

 

That's fair, long as you are cancelling it based on what is true, not a mistake.

At this time, there is no better version of Blackarachnia and the screen-accurate depictions are obviously worth it to me. If it isn't to you, that's entirely fair

 

That doesn’t justify paying $140 for something that should be 80-90. But complaining about MP prices these days is a moot point in here.

 

I wouldn't say it's moot, but not terribly productive. It's worth whatever you are willing to pay. If it isn't worth it to you, then that's fine, that's your choice. It's your money. If it is worth it to you, then that is also your cohice.

I don't think any further justificiation is needed. Be financially responsible, don't spend outside your means. If you need to, save up for these products.

To date, I don't regret spending the money I have on my BW MP, and I dont' suspect I'll regret it with her. I wish it was cheaper, as I do all the purchases I make, but clearly I'm willing to spend the money on her. Since we will not agree on whether it's worth it or not, there isn't much value in the discussion. But I'm not against it either. I'm not insecure of my purchase, and hearing people not willing to pay it doesn't bother me.

Blackarachnia is 25% more expensive than Primal, I can't see any reasonable justification for that... if anything she should be 25% cheaper! I'm paying it, because I'm a chump and my desire for the product overrides my common sense and need to send message to TT that their pricing is outrageous... but it is still outrageous.

 

In that same time there has been a jump in the cost of all transformers. At least locally, even the base line has increaed in price pretty drastically. So while I'm not happy with the change, I cannot say it's unique to this line. It's resulted my in buying significantly less transformers, I'm now only buying the MP BW. Only they are worth the increase in price to me personally.

 

Less copies get produced than Primal.

 

It's a far bigger jump in price 'like for like' than I've seen anywhere else and I do collect other figures from other lines. No where else have I seen the price increases we are witnessing in the MP line. Personally I don't see how or why BA should be 25% more that Primal, or Lio Convoy 65% pricier. It's not like Primal was released 10 years ago!

We can all come up with excuses (less units produced, higher parts count, more this that or the other) or talk about personal value (I already said I was buying it didn't I!?) but to ignore the fact prices are increasing with very little justification is a bit blinkered IMO....but hey I've been one of those 'broken records' about this for some time so fill your boots.

 

Fair enough, I do the same. However personal value has a celling and TT are flying awfully close to mine. Anyway i didn't mean to imply either you or @oku were ignoring the price hikes, I may have chosen my words poorly, it just that I get sick if all the excuses.

 

So I'm not sure what it was like for you guys, but current Studio Series transformers, DELUXE class, sells for $30 CAD. It wasn't that long ago they were $20, which I already thought was pretty expensive as when I started out they were $15, and fruquently on sale for $10.

So at least for me, I've been seeing the prices increase pretty quickly accross the board.

 

Personally I think she worth only as much as a SHF figure. The transformation is chug lvl.

 

I buy very little (official) Transformers outside of MP so you may be right, but i do buy other (official) stuff and I've not experience the same level of increase. Maybe i'm wrong but even if I am that just makes it worse really, everything is becoming insanely overpriced. My wages certainly haven't gone up to compensate.  

 

Right now MP BW are the only figures I'm buying, I buy little outside of that. But I have read articles from other similar type companies explaining why their costs are increasing.

Maybe it's PR bullshit to make more money, maybe it isn't. But right now, Takara is the only company giving me what I want. They are making my childhood dreams of a cast accurate figure of my favourite show come to life. There is definitely a limit to how much money I'm willing to spend on it, but I'm fairly frugal overall. I've been kinda wanting a PS4 for a while, but I decided that I wanted MP BW more, and any money I save from birthdays, holidays, etc all go towards that.

As long as the cost is doable, I'm gonna do it. I absolutely have sympathy for you if it isn't worth it, and I can see where bitterness would come in. Money, and how we spend it is purely personal.

 

Heh, I'm not bitter. I will live if one day I decide I can no longer justify buying this stuff. I have plenty of other things my life that make me happy.

Anyway back on topic I'm still pretty excited about getting this MP regardless of how much I'm being gouged for it!
