Or you could say that the whole reason most of us want the figures and are still interested in them 10 years later is because they were SO unique and interesting that they managed to leave a huge impression DESPITE their lack of any real screen time. Designs like Rampage, Demolishor and Long Haul have stayed in my mind for a decade and that's saying something considering their combined screentime is probably something like 5mins. If they had been G1 clones or something similar I probably wouldn't be interested in them right now.

 

I have nothing against G1 fans, I like it myself, but it's hypocritical to criticize movie designs by saying that they are the same when G1 is filled with identical characters: Ironhide and Ratchet, the Seekers, Inferno and Hoist, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Love the films or not, at least they tried to do something different from the very first film.

 

There is no way they're going to be able to get away with selling all of these at $50 each. $50 is the price of SS Overload/Scavenger and their versions are not only bigger but more complex.

 

i think i might only get there scavenger just so it scales with the other figures in robot mode, i think the ss devy mode is the perfect size the other figures

 

They said each limb, which doesn’t include any of the ones we’ve seen so far. I doubt that price too, but so far we can’t refute the $50 claim either.

 

Really looking forward to seeing Long Haul. Judging by the numbers for each Constructicon he's next.

With all this talk about potential aesthetic changes for the ROTF Constructicons/Devastator to be more humanoid or not it got me thinking about the opposite.

What would an ROTF Devastator configuration look like made with the G1 Constructicon designs? Sunbow G1 ROTF Devastator?

Mixmaster as the upper torso/head
Scavenger as the lower torso
Long Haul as the right leg
Bonecrusher as the left leg
Scrapper as the right arm
Hook as the left arm.

I would be eager to see both a humanoid G1 design with this configuration (normal G1 Devy with all the bots swapped around basically) as well as an ROTF styled "Gorilla with garbage disposal mouth".

 

Sorry I never got the whole "everything looks better when it's G1 colors!" thing. As a designer I can tell you that just changing the color of something that was designed to be a certain color usually doesn't result in something that actually looks better, regardless of whether it's the color that you're expecting more or are more used to.

Not sure if your responding to me or just in general, but I actually agree with you.

I'm not referring to recoloring the ROTF Constructicons into G1 colors. We already know what that looks like, and it looks like ass.

Im talking about taking the G1 Constructicons in the sunbow aesthetic/style and building Devastator using the ROTF Configuration. It would still the same G1 humanoid Devastator, just with all the vehicles swapped around. Like that time IDW make Hook take Scrapper's spot as the left leg after he died. But swapping everyone.

the other design would be just taking ROTF devastator and redesigning him in the G1 cartoon aesthetic.

And we have loads of humanoid Devs already. Across several iterations of Transformers.

Being a hulking, angry, most likely in pain amalgamation of a dog/gorilla as construction vehicles is unique.

I don't know why this conversation is even happening in this thread, to be honest. It already is what it is, and it's not going to change because it's based on something that already exists.
