Yeah I was thinking of a legends minimus literally wearing a deluxe minimus being a very difficult design without compromise and an armor set being attached to just certain parts of the smaller figure isn't really that ideal either but certainly would be possible.

I think if it happened I'd rather have the legends folded up somehow like a ginrai going in to a super ginrai torso. Have it form the middle part of a deluxe minimus.

But I expect if mmc ever does do magnus we're more likely to just get the one regular minimus figure and the magnus body and that'll be it. All this multi layer bot inside a bot inside a bot stuff gets real costly real fast.

Since Iron Factory is making an Ultra/Mega Ultra Magnus I am hoping they might manage to make a few more MTMTE/LL designs like Skids.
But they also have been skewing more towards Earth alt-modes the last two years so if they get around to a Skids, Rodimus etc it'll probably be a hybrid design.

I recentely transformed the LG/CW Ultra Magnus, and if felt incredibly scary. It felt as if during the transformation the plastic would just be torn to pieces. He isn't even transformed to robotmode properly anymore, because I fear that doing so will destroy him.

Yeah, we definitely need a beter version. And Skids also deserved a better version.

Is the plastic quality of the Legends Ultra Magnus any better than the Combiner Wars version? I LOVE the mold, but the CW version has really cheap, brittle plastic.

...really? I've handled several versions of the mold and never felt that way. HasTak figures are consumer products, made to be handled by young children without shattering to pieces. I think you might be behaving overly cautious with your figures.

They're the same as far as I can tell. Takara rarely does much in the way of plastic changes. The only usual change you'll see is more hard plastics where the US uses soft rubberized plastic for certain parts for safety reasons.

Maybe I am, but the pieces to form the legs don't want to rotate. They fight me and if I do force them and move them in position, they pop back on the slightest touch. And moving them is scary, as if I'm bending the plastic and forcing it to go beyond tolerances.

Normally I'd agree with you: these are consumer products made to be handled by young children. However, that also means they're not intended to last a long time, since children will grow out of them. And plastic quality was definitely lowered back then with thinner parts and more less opaque pieces.

Shame really, because design wise he's close to being my ultimate Magnus. Just needed more filled in parts (as leaders had years before) and some better articulation in the feet.

I'm actually kind of surprised by the lack of MP scale Magnus's in general. The official didn't seem to be that well received, and I always thought the character was at least nominally popular, so you'd think someone would have taken a shot at the character besides KFC a million years ago.

The seige 3-pack version of impactor has an idw head and hybrid idw/g1 comic body.

Legends class Optimus prime with targetmaster roller was 100% the idw design.

Thrilling 30 deluxe bumblebee and arguably nightbeat

Legends bumblebee (cybertronian altmode) as well, which was in turn based on the high moon studios war for cybertron video game

    Seige Rung

Legends cosmos seemed based on the idw aesthetic

Leader class combiner wars Megatron came with an Autobot symbol decal that was a clear nod to the comics

Power of the primes sentinel prime was based almost entirely on idws version instead of other ones

Deluxe class jhiaxus... yes the comic looking EXACTLY like the toy was executive meddling but the toy still was based on his earlier appearance

    Titans return rewind

Other hasbro designs that appeared in idw comics for one reason or another include classics prowl and sunstreaker and the original masterpiece seekers with the weird hip things, wfc/foc deluxe starscream, g2 blue stealth bomber dreadwing, reveal the shield lockdown, deluxe and voyager class wfc (video game) Soundwave and foc Shockwave (his dark cybertron appearance), thrilling 30 scoop, deluxe class armada starscream (thrilling 30), deluxe tank galvatron (kind of), arguably thrilling 30 roadbuster and potp topspin and twin twist, legends rumble and frenzy, takara senator ratbat (scourge remold),

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting
