I thought he was talking about RID2015 Optimus Prime cause one of the repaints has that deco. I never seen this color scheme on Armada Prime before. When was this released?

 

I guess when it comes down to it, I'd rather the redocoes get made into new characters. Super modes never did anything for me.


However, if I was going to play this game legit as everyone else is, I'd say that color error in Ultimate Doom that has Prowl colored like Skywarp. I'd love that as a toy.

 

Breaking my multiquote rule here as I noticed this after I had already posted. I'm legitimately FURIOUS over FunPub for having access to the mold and not doing this deco or the blue Trailbreaker/Hoist deco. Hurts even more when you realize they were actually doing a Diaclone theme that year. Hell, they could have had a red Skids/Crosscut and blue Trailbreaker/Hoist two pack customization class, give you the option to do either version since both remolds came in those colors.

 

Black and purple Megatron is always fun. I think the United Darkside Megatron is my favorite version of that color scheme. That or the IDW stealth bomber design.

There's a sick part of me that enjoys purple Marvel Soundwave.

And give me toy colored Galvatron cowards! I think the UW set proved that color scheme still rocks.

And basically any white Optimus Prime-ish character or toy. Music label (ooo, Music Label Soundwave looks sick too), Ultra Magnus, Nova Prime, gimme all of them.

I would love to see a modern Ironhide in a black and red deco like the black Encore release.

 

I agree but since the toy actually came first isn't cartoon colored Galvatron actually the alternate color scheme and toy is the original?

Though I think Galvatron might actually be one of the rare exceptions where the animation model came first. I know he was one of the first toys Hasbro actually designed from scratch rather than being a repurposed mold from an existing toy line. Most of the new designs in the 86 movie were Hasbro originals except for Ultra Magnus who is obviously a repurposed Diaclone figure. But I think they still made the toys first before the animators started working on the movie.

 

The animation models for the movie characters actually came first. However, much like the 2007 film, the toys were based on earlier versions of the character designs which got further revisions before the movie came out. So at one point in the creative process, Galvatron was going to be grey in the movie. I consider toy Galvatron "alternate" simply because his most iconic media appearance is what most people think first. I would also consider something like yellow eyes for Prime and Megatron to be an alternate color scheme despite coming before the cartoon.

 

In 2006, I believe, in the Cybertron toyline.
There's a leader and legends class version of Cybertron Optimus in the same deco. It's known as his Galaxy Force color scheme.

 

It's been too long since I've watched Armada, I completely forgot about that deco.
I think that's what Armada Optimus really looks like, and the matrix is what gives him the traditional red and blue?
Depending on the final price of the new Armada Convoy Takara teased a while back, I might paint one up like that.

 

No, he turned that color one episode before he cast off the Matrix and fought Galvatron. I'm not sure why it happened, but it was when he was in Unicron's core.

 

This is more nostalgia talking, but I will always prefer the Galactic Man/Shackwave scheme over Shockwave's normal purple. (Shackwave was my G1 Shockwave growing up).

 

Y'know, I actually dig Galactic Man/Shackwave's colors myself...

Anyways, as far as alternate decos: Megatron looks infinitely better with a black helmet than without. Starscream needs more red and blue, kinda like the FoC color scheme.

It doesn't because there's no such thing as "Dark white", that would in fact be a grey color.

Black/Grey/White is not like Red/Purple/Blue or any other colors for that matter because they technically aren't colors at all, they're the absence of color.

Purple has shades which are darker with more red than blue or lighter with more blue than red. Grey works in a similar way where the shades are darker when more black is mixed in than white and lighter with more white mixed in than black.

Different shades of Red and Blue can happen separately without turning into purple but there are never different shades of black or white. Dark primary colors are essentially the color mixed with black while lighter colors are the color mixed with white. Obviously you can't mix black with itself to make it darker and you can't mix it with white without it turning grey. Like wise you can't mix anything with white that makes a darker white, you can only make grey.

And just FYI I may not be able to SEE the colors but I did take a lot of art classes in school that taught exactly this... though it got a little confusing once move from traditional art to digital because traditionally you mix blue and yellow to make green but on a computer mixing red and green makes yellow. This is especially tricky because I see yellow as green anyway and since I was so use to mixing blue and yellow to make green when I saw Red/Blue/Green on the computer for the first time I was stumped as to how to take the blue out of the green to make it yellow before someone finally explained Red and Green make yellow. And I still don't understand how that actually works... Maybe I could understand it better if I could see what was actually happening but most of the time I'm just guessing based on what I know should be happening and hoping I made the right color.

 

I really like the car robots black and white cow deco Ironhide with the steer logo and the yellow accents.

 

Maybe a really light grey like the colour TR Astrotrain then
