God the Funko Pops and all their ilk. I can’t stand those things. The giant heads are bad enough but the black soulless eyes are just creepy. The only one that looked even halfway decent on was their Jaws figure because , surprise, sharks have black eyes to begin with.

 

Titan Scorponok should have his toy/Headmasters anime head.

 

What other heads are there he would have?

 

Do all people who hate them only look at the old ones? Now those do look bad but now the new ones are so close to who they are trying to imitate it is hugely impressive.

 

His Rebirth/Marvel comic head. They’re quite different.

 

Earthrise are the g1 toys I wanted as a kid. I love this new line.

I completely agree, I hope we get through the last '84 and '85 car bots we need to be updated with the post-Primewars style and a few 86 bots then let's move on For '84 I think we are only missing Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Trailbreaker. '85 I think is Tracks and Inferno. '86, I don't know about you guys, I am fine with just a New Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge.

one peeve I have, but it's more with people than the toys, and that's those that can't accept the actual toy's name being what it is and must rant on and on about it.

Jetfire and Rubble/Frenzy and the main ones of course.

Get over it, it's Jetfire and not Skyfire, it's on the freaking box. Skyfire was a cartoon copyright thing and nothing more. Rubble/Frenzy was an animation error.

                  

 

Today's mainline transformers is what we called Knock off's 20 years ago.

 

I don't mind the backpacks on the G1 Fembots all that much. The stability issue they create is a bit annoying, and yeah they'd look better without them, but it's not a big deal to me the way it is to many people apparently. Overall, I like the look of them, and I'm pleased to have figures for these characters.

In my personal head-cannon, I like to imagine them as jet packs. If some 3rd party ever did a couple of jet thruster add-ons for them, I'd gladly purchase those.

I've never liked those figures. The whole aesthetic just doesn't do it for me.

Jetfire is always Jetfire to me, never Skyfire. I never liked the name Skyfire - Jetfire is a much cooler name. More zing to it. That they slapped the name Skyfire on him due to an annoying copyright issue makes me like it even less.

 

I think Skyfire sounds cooler. Sue me.

Ditto. To me they are Fireflight, Skyfire, Slag, Octane and Shrapnel. No way in hell am I calling them Firefly, Jetfire, Slug, Octone and Skrapnel.

 

All of the examples you listed only apply to the toys though (and I'm pretty sure everyone calls them by their cartoon names and not their toy names.

Jet/Skyfire is the outlier because his actual character name had to be changed in the cartoon, not just the toy name like everyone else listed above.

 

Slag was Slug in at least FoC, not sure if he was around in Devastation to have his name changed

 

He wasnt in Devastation.

 

I think there is room for both. Being modeled after the cartoon depiction Siege Jetfire is Skyfire to me. However, other incarnations based more on the toy, such as the T30 leader, are Jetfire.
