It's not just Motormaster, it's his "buddies" as well.

The Stunticons basically went from being "luxuries" to "commodities".

It is a good problem to have with things made from plastic. MY GF can say what she wants about her Barbie & Ken Collection, but our collection of combiners is more dynamic IMHO

Totally agree with you on your assessment. Didn't help that XTB's photos of the initial prototype were weirdly coloured... Did they represent die-cast parts?

    They are diecast parts.

I think that's why pretty much every other 3p stopped showing early tests. I think there's alot of ppl that don't get it and it's not worth the aggro and backlash. Best to wait till the hit colour test stage then show something.

I really don't think it had to do with this though. The prototype was fine but posed horribly. When something is not painted or close to done that will cause this kind of reaction. I think the issues were with the combiner skeleton/trailer and removing a trailer. That would be a serious change to design. Looking at DX9 you basically have the blueprint of how all 3 of these are likely to use a trailer for the skeleton. It obviously adds a ton of complexity in paneltasticness.

I certainly hope they use the trailer for Menasor's body/skeleton, the trailer has a huge volume for the skeleton to transform from.
Other suggestions like having it transform into a base or have it mostly empty space to store a couple of Stunticons in there is a waste.
Really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

You know, the impression I got from way back when was that the original plan was that the combiner parts folded up and fit inside the trailer, but didn't actually utilize any parts of the trailer like Dx9's does. But then they said they were changing plans, but it could be the combined parts still just go in the trailer- that could be how you fit the other Stunticons in it. It can be full of combiner parts, or you could empty it to fit in some cars, but not both at the same time.

I'm trying to remember the exact wording, was the impression was ever given that the trailer could hold both simultaneously? On the one hand, the few side pics we got of the G2 combined mode kinda looked like the sides of the chest could be comprised of trailer wall. On the other the solid multi-coloring of the limbs seems to indicate they don't form any outward facing part of the trailer. It could be that it just folds up into a rectangular box that fits in the trailer. And that way you still have 1) the combiner parts being part of MM (I mean, in the trailer is different from being set aside like the Zeta pants), 2) technically can carry the Stunticons in a combiner-part free trailer, and 3) a base mode.

As you say, originally ibot only said that the trailer would store combiner parts but he later said that it had been redesigned and it transformed into the trailer.

People hate on the DX9 feet \ lower leg but the FT ones are worse if anything...panels from the trailer on the sides, are the wrong colour, still has the mini 'skate wheels' except worse because they are separated and two of them are hanging off another folded panel and still big blocks because the figure is possibly a bit oversized.

If XTB is sticking to the original specs... then yes.. the trailer will be a shoebox to store the combiner frame and parts in... and you can remove them to put cars inside instead. Not sure how I feel about it. I think I might like the DX9 trailer/frame approach better.

The skate wheels aren't the problem, that's accurate, it's the fugly giant purple area smacking you in the face, sticking out like a sore thumb and a front bumper that looks swollen from him stubbing his toe.

I have to say that I still agree that the foot (toe?) of the DX9 looks best to me - yeah the bumper, but somehow the unneeded high windows especially on the FT version bug me, and XTB does something similar - I don't get it, XTB probably has the shape of that bit down pat, but the lineart from the cartoon has a narrow strip of 'window', like DX9, not that big block of purple the others have. In the end all have better and less good parts, I guess it depends what your personal taste likes best, and can deal with best in not so great bits.

    i mean...

FT is neither small, aesthetically pleasing (it looks like a crashed super deformed truck and trailer), the right colour or even close to being accurate.

Neither are perfect but man that DX9 looks shite. You can add stumpy/flat to the list too.

XTB looks better than them both even in early test shot.

But as Ibot said, and you yourself quoted his posts only a few pages back, they aren't sticking to that original philosophy! :)

    Again...
Needn't be any uncertainty. That is of course unless we don't believe that wizardry could be pulled off, but I like to think he would have said that after seeing the actual designs! :)

Ppl just flap regardless of what the owner of the company says. The amount of ppl still talking about 'limited edition' Sovereign and Quietus is ridiculous.

@TigerBlade you mean the constant blab even after the FT rep's comments are quoted every few pages that the "limited" talk is utter and complete bullshit?

But this was posted before it was mentioned that Gravestone was being re-worked. Hence why I said: “If”....

We all will have to just wait and see.
