A great op for those who didnt grab em the 1st round. Fortunately, I was abke to grab a Hasbro TRU copy with all minions when it was out. Dismantled the head and painted the visor, almost looks exactly like the reissue as I feel Hasbros was a tab bit darker than Takaras; remember THAT whole thing...

...come to think of it, most Hasbro releases seemed to lean towards the "toy" versions whem MP 1st started. Perfect for those collecting the + toys modes. Hot Rod, Soundwave, Grimlock, and Walmart Starscream (TRU MP10 sorta).

    It's a bit brighter tham
All they did really was make it slightly brighter but unfortunately not as blue as the G1 cartoon. Still looks really good though.

I can only comment on the THF KO. It's a great figure. Some of the details are softer than the official, but I prefer the metal fleck plastic on it. Joints and tolerances on mine are as good as my official copy.

If you don't have a Soundwave there's really no reason to waste an extra 100$ on the reissue.

Not really seeing why they made no changes to the reissue... what's the point then? You can still find the original, especially the Hasbro release which was far more worth it with 5 casettes, on ebay and other places. At least they did not mess up the colors and looseness like with the really terrible Asia Grimlock reissue.
I got the KO Sideswipe and Smokescreen, and quickly sold them. They have a very KO feel, some parts do not clip on perfectly, overall they just feell WRONG. I cannot put this well into words... same stuff I felt when handling Encore Starscream, it is just not the REAL thing. The plastic feels different, more cheap.
I dunno how much Soundwave costs now, but I got him and 5 casettes for 150$ which to me was a great deal, especially today when a tiny MP Hound costs more (I think - I stopped collecting MPs after Tracks). To me that was well worth it considering the Seeker repaints cost 90 to 120$ at the time.

I have the Hasbro version and mine works super fine even after all these years, despite me usually displaying him with the door open and Laserbeak popping out.

All this does is reaffirm to me that Soundwave is still the best MP made so far. The mold still holds up to this day flawlessly and is the best representation of the character available. Absolute perfection.

I’d rather have Marvel colors Soundwave with more cassette repaints.

It\'s a great fig. I just wish the back in alt mode was a little cleaner, but eh.. I got the last re-issue from a few years back that included all the tapes. Definitely a worthwhile toy!

KOs can be hit or miss. My Sideswipe is garbage but my Hotrod is perfect. Companies like THF and Infinite Transformations are a different animal though. They've built a reputation on quality KOs at an affordable price.

I had interest in this reissue, I have Hasbrou yellow eyes with several issues and I am glad I skipped this one. I would be so mad if quality has been as bad as I see on latest posts.

The long life design thing isn't new to this release for the record; there was a reissue that coincided with MP36 which had it first along with several other reissues and of course Megatron himself.

Can this come with all the cassete boys please!?
The only issue i ever had with the Hasbro release was the yellow visor which was only ever on the G1 toy whereas Masterpiece figures tend to ape the TV show.
Why Hasbro fucked that up, i\'ll never know. :/
To be honest; why didn\'t they just do what MP Grimlock did and have the visor be able to switch colours? Would\'ve solved the issue.

Takara Soundwave is an example of how to get it right first time. No 2.0 version required here!

The darker blue and painted red eyes are subtle, but I like the changes enough to consider them slight improvements over the original. Thanks for the side-by-side shots.

IT-02 was pretty bad though according to the thread, so no, IT has not built a reputation of quality KOs. It's more like 50-50 at this time.

I don't actually own any IT stuff, I'm just going by what I've seen people here say about their Megatron. I'm not a big BW fan so I haven't really watched the 02 thread. IT doesn't even make a Soundwave do they?

Okay, I know several KOs of him exist. I didn't think IT did one, but you never know sometimes KOs sneak up on ya like that.
