    First impressions:

Not familiar with the character but I can adopt the Sixshot mode accuracy mindset easily enough.

Ape mode: The shoulders could connect more solidly to the neck and the nose of the jet is hinged into the base of the neck. It feels like there could have been a bit more range to let the jet nose lay flat on the ape's back. It's a little maddening but it's not like it falls out of mode or anything.

    Jet mode: pretty solid.

Robot mode: solid, wish the colors of his accessories matched like the original.

Fantastic shots! This is my most anticipated figure from Siege and this looks more and more like a dream come true.

I've gotta ask: Is it possible to keep Spasma in the ape head when it goes into the nosecone for jet mode?

Couldn't get it to work but it just might be me. Leaving the Titan master in exposes both rows of teeth under the jet's nose. It looks like a goblin shark. It adds just enough angle to an armature to keep the jet nose from staying tabbed.

I have zero attachment to this figure, as I had learned about girls, beer, and weed when this figure came out.

Thanks for the response, especially with details regarding how it affects structure. Just gonna have to stick to that back cockpit.
I will admit my personal fascination was because I liked how the G1 toy looked, and was gonna buy it until this was announced. I think the jet mode is better-shaped on the older toy (and the Titan Master rideable), but I also think the ape mode is better on this one.

It's definitely funky and not for everyone.

I mean with a name like Apeface you already know he's not much of a crowd pleaser.

    That's just you then.
I feel that way about Starscream and Ironhide.
Apeface though... What's not to like?
    A cool intimidating bot mode.
    Awesome Cybertronian jet mode.
And a gorilla mode with a great deco.
I always felt this guy looked great. Pity he always has that enormous backpack. At least they managed to fix that somewhat here.
If only they had made him the size of TR voyagers :(

I love the full later g1 wackiness, but this guy looks a bit flawed. Maybe they’ll remold him into a better snapdragon? My best friend in school had him and I always wanted one, and that day may still yet arrive.

    I doubt that actually.
    But back on subject.
I really love that they kept Apeface's sexy chunky jet mode.
I look forward to having him in hand.
Just wish he was taller and didn't have that horrible bird poo all over him.

And, likewise, I doubt it's just him who finds Apeface "funky."

    But back on subject...

Although I also have zero attachment to this character, I actually think the figure looks kind of cool in robot mode, despite the puny stature, milky plastic, and that irritating "battle damage." I find simian alt modes boring and redundant though, so if I get him (on sale), gonna add a tail of sorts and make him more reptilian in nature.

I'm much more interested in the (inevitable?) Snapdragon release, obviously.

What are you talking about? you are the same person
Oh yeah. I hate the battle damage too. And looking forward to Snapdragon and Scorponok.
A complete 87 display is going to look so awesome :)

Haha, no, @Snake_eyes1975 was the the original "funky" commenter. I was just making a point. I'll stop creating confusion and derailing the thread now, though!

I’m down for this at the sale price preorder, but yeah, I find the mix of alt modes kinda “funky” as well. But I suppose that’s late G1 for ya.

Good pics. Looks like the toy could've done with some more time in the design oven, like it reaches 70% of its full potential.

... But that's pretty much what I had been led to believe by all previous pictures so I'm fine with it. I like this guy precisely because of his funkiness. You go big or you go home and an ill-tempered slob who can turn into a jet and an ape and is decked out in black, white, purple and pink is about as big as it gets.

Thanks for the review! I don’t mind the sculpt for any of the modes, and actually kind of like the janky funk of that ape, but the battle paint is really unsightly, especially on the legs where it looks like he’s wearing pants that he wore while painting the shed or something. I haven’t been compelled to remove paint from any of the Siege figures yet but I may try on this one unless it doesn’t bother me in hand.

Do you enjoy painting at all? I found the battle damage to be pretty stubborn when I tried to remove it, so I decided to paint over it on several of my Siege figures instead (the Seekers and Soundwave in particular; it's inexcusably heavy and ugly on them).

The result has been so satisfying and preferable. I definitely recommend doing that if painting's your thing!

How much of the battle damage is placed on top of paint?

It's weird, I feel exactly the same as you. No attachment, think it's cool in robot mode despite those negatives, and just don't get the point of monkey modes.

... that said, I'm still super excited because I really do like the robot mode and even the jet mode. Feels like a pulpy space fighter and I love it.
