Looking good. At the very least a cinematic universe with Hannah Barbara characters makes sense. Ditto. Velma always had my attention over Daphne.
Velma has always been my favorite Scooby character. I judge the entire cartoon based on Velma. (With the exception of the 13 ghosts cartoon, which didn't have her at all. Which is one of my favorite versions.)
I'm...Honestly still on the fence here. The animation looks pretty good in that test shot. The designs are faithful while still being new. But I'm not sold on them getting a celebrity cast for the gang's voices (save for Scooby). I get the logic that the extra star power is supposed to boost sales, but...I dunno. But I'll give it a chance.
Normally I'd agree with the celebrity voice casting instead of voice actors, as a bad sign. However in this case, the main cast doesn't seem to be brought in for name value, like a lot of cg cartoons do these days. As the majority of them are, sure, celebrities, but none of them (Other than Mark Walkburg playing what I assume is a small part, Blue Falcon.) are actually famous enough to bring in an audience from name value alone. I mean, Zac Efron I know from Baywatch and the Greatest Showman. Not exactly top notch, well known movies. Gina Rodrigues I know for Annihilation and various CG cartoons. Will Forte, I know him for CG cartoon movies. So, in this case, it seems to be a case of finding a person to fit these new versions of these characters, rather than changing the character to fit the famous person. Maybe I am wrong here, only time will tell. (Trailer release.) But, it doesn't seem like these are exactly high value people.
Well, one can only hope it will be better than the horrible and unnecessary sequel they just did to Zombie Island was.
SCOOB! First Look Photos Reveal Groovy New Designs For Scooby & The Mystery Inc. Gang; Trailer Coming Monday Daphne has a cool new dress. And the green eyes (I think that's a first?) look good. I didn't expect Scooby as a pup. He looks adorable.
Daphne looks sweet here. Different yet clearly evoking the classic original look like the others are doing. So nice to see the gang all together here. Hope this means a trailer isn't far behind.
Like, zoinks! The designs look better than imagined! The characters transitioned from 2D to 3D perfectly!
Loving Velma and Daphne. They are completely adorable. The rest look good, but they are the most important ones to me. As they really are/were the show. Especially Velma. These designs look great. Loving WB's animations studio recently. Looking forward to this more than anything from Disney/Pixar next year.
So we are getting pup named scooby-doo nods! Can't wait to see captain caveman, teen angels, and dyno-mutts new looks. Daphne looks great.
looks better than I thought it would. Hope it is good. so far the only new scooby material I have liked recently has been Scoobynatural.
I’m digging the art style for the movie; it looks fresh while still feeling like a classic Scooby Doo cartoon. Still don’t know how I feel about Scooby Doo speaking near perfect English, I know it’s been done plenty of times before, but I dunno... I always liked whenever he still talked like a dog trying to speak English. It was cute. That’s honestly just a minute nitpicky thing, though.
The only ones who sound good are their kid versions, Scooby and Daphne. That doesn't even sound like Shaggy, more like "generic animated guy."
I'm trying not to let it but the voices are bugging me. I'm not trying to be the "when I was a kid" guy but these characters have been voiced pretty consistently for decades (Lilliard and Welker come to mind). It might be different if there hadn't been any Scooby Doo material for enough time for it to leave the collective consciousness but the studio has been churning out new Scooby content for years now so the voices are pretty fresh in most peoples heads I would think (certainly mine). And why bring Welker back to voice Scooby but not have him voice Fred too? That's a real head scratcher to me.
