Nice work, though I am a little confused why you didn’t paint a Starscream instead of the more expensive pack version

 

Now if you want that G1 toon look, paint the shoulders the fine lavender you mixed. Skywarp was the only seeker to have his shoulders the same as his forearms..

 

At first I had no idea what you were talking about, but a quick google search proves you are correct. Had not realized that.

 

Unfortunately I thought of that AFTER I was done. 

I originally had the shoulders lavender but it was just too much. So I changed them to black.

 

Hey, could you possibly take pictures of reassembling the shoulder, I'm having issues with mine for some reason.

I'm planning on going the custom route for Skywarp since I am NOT paying anywhere close to what scalpers want for the official. That being said, Did you hand paint this figure or did you use spray paint? I'm more comfortable hand painting my figures since I both don't have a dedicated workspace for any spray painting and I'm a bit anxious about potentially wrecking a custom using spraypaint.

Do you have any tips when taking this fella apart? Any parts in disassembly I should be cautious of?

Also can you please evaluate why you’ve dubbed It “gay-warp” ? I really dont understand why you hate the original paint scheme lol

 

What's the trick to get these parts out? I've been sitting on my project for a week now trying to mess with it.

 

He said "gray-warp" not "gay-warp" because the Siege Skywarp isn't black and purple, he's dark gray and purple.
If you compare a Siege Skywarp to any other version of Skywarp you'll see the difference.

No worries, we all do that at times.

Just to help clarify the black vs gray, in this pic Aimless Misfire posted, you can see the thighs he's painted black with the ratchet joint still the factory gray color. The black paint makes a huge difference in making this feel more like G1 Skywarp. (Plus the lavender instead of dark purple for a more G1 toy look)

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on here in a while. But this is the easiest damn figure to take apart that I have ever worked on. I'm currently working on a few more. I can't believe how easy it is to take apart, even the wings. They are the easiest pins to knock out I've ever seen. No effort at all. A couple taps with a hammer & nail from the front side & they pop right out. I just finished my Dirge. Currently working on Ramjet & Thrust. And no, they're not coneheads, no need to be coneheads since there is no F-15 nosecone on the pre-Earth Seekers. And I despise coneheads, I wish the animators left their heads alone & kept them like the original toys & box art.

The only parts that are almost impossible to take apart on these are the gray pieces under the front end nose. I gave up trying to remove them. The front half pops right out but the rear half is totally stuck on a pin. It's too much trouble. So I do it the hard way & use masking tape.

Yeah! See my post above. Those are the only 2 parts that just aren't worth the hassle. I wish there was a trick. I forced them loose with a lot of bending & stress marks. Now I just don't bother & mask them off with tape.


1 more thing. That little piece right behind his head is totally useless. I don't know what it's for or why it's there. I pop them off & have a pile of them.

I'm gonna try to post a tutorial thread about this. I have a few tips & tricks that will help with all repainting projects.

Thundercracker is currently $16.99 on Amazon so I'm taking advantage while the scalpers aren't paying attention. When I was a kid the toys I wanted the most from G1 were the Tetrajets. So I'm having a freakin blast with these. This is propbably the single most important release to me in all my years of collecting. And I've been a fan since day 1. G1 Skywarp was my very first.
