Fire Scorpion vs Toyworld.
Let the 2nd Great 3rd Party Prime Wars commence! (the 1st Great 3rd Party Prime wars was between Magic Square and Transform Element.) Actually this may be the 4th Great 3rd Party Prime wars, if factoring in Bayverse and IDW. We need a prime wars thread, MP style review for all those bots!

Both of these are quality looking figures, but Toyworld I think is the best for me even with the “truck feet” and all.

I wonder if the new one brings anything to the table the Toyworld version doesn’t?

 

The FS chest looks too much like a truck with arms, whereas Toyworld's looks like a robot that turns into a truck.

 

Could be. This image is the first I've seen from Fire Scorpion, tho I've been drooling over TW for some time now, I'm open to this other contender, because it could get better as they refine it. The final analysis of these, quality, tolerances, molded parts strength, intuitive transformations, and overall paint apps will determine the winner. I'm open to any that come, and haven't yet put my mind to only 1 example just yet. It is nice to see more competition. Any takers or bets on who gets released 1st? I've seen a lot of comments on how TW takes years and sometimes never releases anything. So maybe in the end, we're really only left with 2. The KO OS SS heavily Modified, or the Fire Scorpion edition. Who knows. But right now, this is exciting as more images and updates hit our news feeds here. Can't wait to see how this 3rd party Prime war turns out.

 

Okay fine, so long as we DON'T get another Machinima Animated Series....

 

Pretty much what I was thinking. The chest is off on the FS version compared to Toyworld, and also as of right now Toyworld has more display options that I will like. FS have taken liberties as well his Earth mode smokestacks are straight like G1 but in the movie they’re curved at the top.

 

At this point in time I see Toyworld being first out of the gates, but the FS one looks like it’s already a painted prototype so who knows really. It could just be a render but imo they need to revise some paint apps and the chest truck window area especially. They don’t look right proportionally to me.

The FS one's torso is too long and his arms are too far back from his chest. I'd be interested to see the truck mode and his size.

 

Not sure fs prime is transformable. Doesn’t seem to look like it, although neither does this prime but we at least know he does. Not gonna do anything for me unless it ends up being really cheap and has a better truck mode

 

Hmmmm curious how everyone is missing that this thing is using MP10’s hands. That scorpion one ain’t competition given it just looks like a custom, or a TW prime that got stuck in the oven for a few min.

 

Ever occur to you that people don’t care? Especially since this is obviously a prototype and there is a serious lack of info to actually make any real judgement on which is the better figure. I can tell you already have a stake in the TW version and more power to you.

Someone is actually prefer options and are actually excited to have them.

 

I would hope people cared whether or not this transforms, is a custom, or actually looks good.

As good as options are, there’s no reason for it’s existence. Non transforming prime is already taken by 3A. Transforming prime has already been taken by TW. This just looks like an inferior version to both.

 

In the meantime we have El Cid vs Challenger, and the various other primes and the official 3A equivalents. Now it's just a race to see who gets theirs out on the market first and which one succeeds at being the better product.

Well first to the market is kinda risky.. Just ask TFEVO... First to market, first to suffer scrutiny.. Their Hot Rod was billed by all as the best rendition, had the best proportions, while DX9 was still in development and tweaking stages, we saw the end result there. DX9 is so superior.. Nobody talks about TFEVO anymore.

 

Kind of... it was more of a rookie company versus an experienced company.

Really need to see more pics ad get more information on the Scorpion one. For now it definitely beats out the official SS one, and the KO SS ones. It's got some weaknesses next to TW's but then, all we've seen of it is a single picture in a straight up and down stance. No idea about posability, transformation, side or rear views, vehicle mode etc.
Until I see more, I'm definitely withholding judgement.
This is an inch taller than TW's, it's a previously unheard of company and it's come out of nowhere in painted proto or test shot form, so at this stage it could be anyone's game.
And, at least for me, the winning prize will probably go to whichever company tells me they're doing a matching Megatron figure, whether it's using unused footage from the movie or their own design. I don't need another Optimus unless he has some kind of Megatron to pair with.

 

NGL, I'd bite on the fire scorpion if the alt mode was better than the toyworld one, and if it came with those energon swords which Prime had in bayverse. Either one of these conditions, but particularly the better alt mode

 

I personally couldn’t, MP10 hands, massive chest, and SS looking head make it look way too off for me.
