I am still waiting to see the 35th figures in any of the WM in the Katy/Richmond area. Every time I show the picture of the Walmart exclusive display to an attendant I am brought to the TF section and obviously nothing is there.......

I saw a Beachcomber and Outback at Ross in the Huebner center, so it looks like it's that time to keep at the secondary retailers now.

Ross @ Westchase had a couple of Trypticons, a couple of Battleslash, and a Beachcomber. No sign of Battleslash's partner though.

Saw someone in the Ross/Tjmaxx tfw2005 board found POTP Predakings at their Dirt Cheap store. Anyone else finding them in their stores? No Luck here in SA from last I checked the stores.

Isn't Dirt Cheap a reseller of returned or incomplete items? I've always seen people posting their findings and they're either missing items or just thrown back in the box.

you're right dirt cheap sells returned items from other stores. they also purchase liquidations & overstock. so in retrospect finding anything transformers there is basically luck of draw. finding a potp predaking was a random find. so yes, chances are other stores will not have it. I imagine alot of those bullshit swaps we see at WM & Target end up there also..

btw... a reminder that TRU opens this month at the Houston Galleria. only one of two stores in the entire country. no opening date is scheduled yet, but a member of Galleria management told me that they are definitely slated for a November opening.

Yeah it’s basically luck of the draw, but you can find some complete unopened items there too. It’s how I’ve completed a lot of my studio series for cheap. Other times you can find damaged or incomplete, but if you need quick parts swaps, then they would be the way to go. (I found a studio series jetfire (just the main torso) for around $5 for example, will use it for spare parts should I need to.)

Very interested to hear the perspective of local Houstonian Collectores who check it out. The TF University Podcast recently had an episode talking about a conversation the host had with a former TRU Corporate Employee who went into some vague details about the last days of TRU...where TRU was still placing orders from Hasbro and Mattel and other big brands even though they knew they ere already going under, essentially hosing payment to those large brands. The speculation then...was that these new TRU stores would only be carrying TRU brand toys, and less things of say...for examaple Transformers.

As I’ve been thinking about it though, I take all this with a grain of salt. TRU Canada and other International stores are still selling big named brand products...but that may be because the international franchise rights were sold off to other entity’s (shrug)? IDK. Speculating.

Either way, interested to hear what the experience is like for fellow TF Fans in Houston.

yep it's a shame what happened to TRU there towards the end. the ones I really felt bad for, were all the floor workers that lost their jobs due to corporate inefficiency. as for the store itself I kind of miss having that third option. yes their prices were a little higher. but I think TRU is an important part of the nostalgia that comes with collecting. especially for those with children that want to pass on the trait. "where a kid can be a kid" me personally I've got 30 years worth of childhood and adulthood memories of shopping at TRU. good memories. so im hoping they can have success and branch out more and more over time. we'll just have to wait and see. they're operating under an entirely new business model. not actually selling toys, but instead leasing the shelf-space for the toys to sit on, and providing merchant services. I do plan on visiting once they open. I'll definitely take some pics and report my experience. I hope other H-town collectors will do the same..

I'm not really into buying junk so I probably won't waste time at a Dirt Cheap.

While hunting the Dollar Tree keychains in Lubbock, TX, I found something else. Blind box Transformers vs. GI Joe keychains by kidrobot. There are no codes on the boxes to determine differences. I bought 10 and got 3 Bumblebees, 2 Primes, 1 Megatron and all the Joes minus Snake Eyes. I'm not sure if the box art shows Megatron with a t-rex hand but mine came with one.

Hey everyone. I live in Indiana but my sister just called me from a Dirt Cheap in Nacogdoches, TX saying that she found this. I told her to grab it for me as it's 40% off (came to 97 dollars). I was surprised though--I don't think I've heard about it showing up anywhere? Has this happened anywhere down there?

Edit: Btw, I had her open and check on the figures inside. The box was still sealed and the figures all completely intact and still attached to the cardboard.
