sorry to bump the thread, but was wondering if either version of this mold is worth the asking price of $300 (give or take). dinoking is the biggest con hole in my victory collection and he looks pretty cool, but not sure i want to spend that kind of cash, especially since i sourced hades for $200

Having this and really liking it, I can't fully recommend it to someone else for that price. Maybe with some shells.

Awesome figure still and I would still buy it at that price, but I'm silly. :drunk

good to know. the shells arent a necessity for me, though theyd be nice, since he would mostly be in combined mode. ill have to start stashing for him, would prefer dinoking over monstructor personally but that may change once ive got the funds

I can't fully answer that for you because everyone's enjoyment is going to vary, but I think I can fairly certainly say that Hades for $200 is a much better package than Dinoking at $300. I have both Liokaiser and Dinoking, and basically paid full retail on both - Hades is the better set imo, and not simply because they're bigger and have animal partners. There are just some bizarre limitations on some of the Dinoforce bots. Odd articulation ranges, weird lack of movement, poor kibble management, poor hiding of robot fists in alt mode, etc. They're alright, but could easily be better, especially at the price they cost. You've also got to consider how "tough" they look - these really don't come off as the loveable goofs from Victory. In that way, they probably work better as Monstructor.

I feel like I've seen Dinoking for $300 often. It might be worth trying to hold out for an even better sale.

always good to hear varying views :)  this has kind of been my feeling for awhile now, if i could get either for $200 (monstructor or dinoking) id definitely bite and be happy. id be happy with either on my victory shelf (i use fanprojects madlaw (quickswitch) on my masterforce shelf because i didnt feel like paying twice as much for their sixknight)

Beastructor was overpriced for what we got. I have him. The toys have the usual poseability and fun factor you'd expect from a FansProject release. Transformation is smooth, combining is okay bordering on fun.

However, he suffers from the usual niggles I have with FP figures, including weak glues (are they all assembled with cornstarch based glue or what?) and aggressive sharp bits (not as bad as PX's obsession with trying to let my blood with PX Apocalypse).

Subjectively he's lacking something substantial. I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps it's just the overall small profile factor. It could also be the fact that the figures have a lot of greebly "shard" detailing - makes the figures look like all pointy edges like they're assembled from plastic shrapnel. Makes them look a little bayformer-ish.

Another mark against them is the muted colors and how bland some of the altmodes look. I realize they're not based on any actual discernible monsters, but the "shard" look and the generic "monster" modes make them look kinda like chewed up gum.

The biggest issue I have is really combined mode. This is the combined mode:

Here's what the cartoon gave us:

You know I'm not a mega toon accuracy guy, but IMO the FP version is way too "noisy" looking. Too many liberties were taken with his silhouette, especially in his arms and legs. I don't like the "heavy calf" leg design or the exaggerated cloven feet. His arms are way too stubby, with limited articulation due to how fat his upper and lower arms are. They have the the effect of making his actual body look dinky in comparison, giving him a kind of "Popeye" effect. The chunky axe also doesn't do much for me.

I'd definitely get Hades instead. Even if his combined mode is mediocre, the individual bots really shine and capture the personality of the characters a lot more than FPs.

Oh sorry. Misread it! Honestly, if you want a Beastructor, let me know. I'd be willing to part with mine for a slightly more reasonable price than eleventy hojillion dollars or whatever they're asking.

I’m considering selling my dinoking. I’m just curious what a reasonable price is

So what’s a used dinoking, missing some of the guns I’m sure, worth to you?

I’m bumping this because I’ve got a bunch of store credit built up at BBTS, and am eyeing Beastructor. I just have a few questions before I pull the trigger.

On the individual bots, are the hands compatible with 5mm port weapons?

How are the joint tolerances on these? Are they good and snug out of the box, or are they sometimes floppy?

Is there any paint on these, or is all the color just straight up plastic?

Unfort I only have Dinoking and mine's buried in my display case and can't take him out, but joint tolerances are very tight on mine. Not in a bad way.

Yep. If BBTS marks Beastructor down, it’s going right in the PoL.
