And after all that, you'll still have a toon-colored Onslaught head instead of a black one...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but toon Onslaught and an upgrade it gives me exactly what I wanted- give cartoon Combaticons that turn into one toy (or OX) Bruticus.

IMO (and I realize it won’t be a popular one), MMC messed up by designing Onslaught and the Bruticus chest to be toy based in the first place. Since all the limb cons were toon based, they should have done the same with Onslaught from the start. THEN they could have offered toy based redecos/retools of the whole team as XTB did with their Bererkars.

I really only want the toon based team so I’m happy with what we’re getting, but I understand why some folks will be miffed.

Well... gave in and ordered Impetus & Fraudo. This team looks like they'll be fun toys. My 1st Ocular Max figures. Kinda annoyed about the kit I gotta buy to have toy versions tho.
Edit: Yes I know the limbs aren't toy based either.

Word of warning, there are a couple of important steps the instructions gloss over.

Wait a sec!? So Fraudo/Swindle didn't come with an extra "Smirk" face?? C'mon MMC if there's one thing Swindle is known for its his Cheesy Smirk lol. Hopefully MMC will release an additional face with another character.

Yes. But all of them are quite tight. Some of them a little too tight.

It's not a mistake. It's a feature. If HasTak can cram a billion secret codes into their packaging, the MMC can do some backwards text.

Yikes! Just saw the upgrade parts are gonna be around $60-70 from what I've seen. Not trying to ruffle any feathers here but IMO that's a scummy move on MMC's part. Should've at least made it Free for anyone who Pre-orders Onslaught or something.

Well I mean if they care about giving credit you’re kinda screwed if you can’t read them.

Honestly they should have just included everything with Onslaught and upped the price by 20 bucks or something. That is NOT $60-70 worth of plastic/engineering there, 70 is a price of an entire figure albeit at a smaller scale. It's purely to squeeze those who want that look even more, and it's probably the more desired look at least for the toy head v toonhead aspect. I love MMC overall but I am pretty put off by this.

I know from a "we can make more money so it would be stupid not to" aspect, it makes sense, but it feels absolutely garbage to have to buy 2 separate and pricey products to get the figure you want. An all contained item with a higher price tag feels more acceptable for a consumer, rather than feeling they need to buy upgrades at the time of purchase.
This is probably also what bothered me about serphicus or whatever, their Nova Prime. Who the hell just wants the individual figure? I would have been more tempted to just pay once on a larger priced item than twice on 2 already pricey items.

Hm yeah it does seem a bit much. I think it’s an excellent upgrade and I hope to experience it some day in a future retool. But I don’t see myself buying it soon.

They can't win. If all of the add-on parts were included for a higher price, then those that didn't want the parts would be screaming bloody murder that they are being forced to pay for parts they don't want.

But it is $60-70 worth of steel injection mold, which is the major determining factor to how these things cost out. R&D and material costs are pocket change in comparison.

Especially when you factor in the low production runs, as they're expecting to sell less of the add-ons than they will of Incursus himself.

    This does make sense though.

I guess I respect and understand the decisions they’ve made. It’s just going to be impossible for me to agree with them.

They will be making a nice margin on this I'm sure, im sure the upgrade isn't going to be a loss leader. Again, my point wasn't about money at all actually, it's the fact that a customer doesn't enjoy buying 2 things to enjoy the one thing. And those arguing you will have other people angry they are paying for stuff they don't need, there are millions of toys that come with accessories that a buyer might not need, and generally would make up the 10-15% of the mass in the box. Figma, play arts kai, and so much more.
If you state a price from the start, say it's all included, I highly doubt you will have people going UUGGHH IT COMES WITH A FEW EXTRA ACCESSORIES, OH ME OH MY IT COULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER AND NOW I WON'T BUY IT BECAUSE THIS.
It is OBVIOUSLY a squeeze to get more money from you. And look, it's not the worst offender, and I'm not even saying it's the end of the world, I'm just saying this is exactly what it is, and I'm not overly pleased at the experience they are delivering with this move. It harbors a stronger negative feeling to the brand overall.

If they developed this at the last minute, either provide the upgrade for less than this crazy amount (about 100 bucks or more for us Canadians... 100 bucks for an upgrade kit), or make 2 versions.
One box with the upgrade parts in a baggy under the plastic clam shell, and one without. No new packaging costs. Just a different version with 2 different prices, one 20 or so bucks more than the other.
