Not to get too off topic, but here it is. X2 Toys Skycrusher (Skyfire) Shows what the original face looked like, and what the (at the time) planed upgrade face looked like. I'm guessing that's what we have with the set.
Thanks. That gives me an idea of how doing a small homage to Cloud Starscream would work with this HM Starscream on the TR Megatron/Blitzwing mold.
I appreciate this info as well. Just to add in, the Jetfire face is the same mold as the replacement head they offered earlier this year. It's very poorly made. I ended up not using it in favor of that recast of God Bomber's face that was on ebay for a while.
Found this on Instagram via Action Robo (all photos from Actionrobo's site - if it's not okay to use them, I'll take them down. Link at the bottom): X2 Toys - XT014 Dark Shadow & Counterattack Set of 2
The replacement Jetfire shell actually arrived a while ago. The nose cone hinge works on this one. Also tried using Godbomber's helmet on the Jetfire head, which made it look better. The faceplates, overall, still don't work well thanks to those, uh, awful lips. I hadn't played around with these figures in a while and forgot how ridiculously bad the joints are. It really feels like you're parts forming just from doing very basic movements. Used Godbomber and Sonic Bomber as bodies. Jetfire's faceplate is made for helmets, which then covers up the empty area on top. Starscream's faceplate doesn't go down as far as it should, so the face will seem a little high. This is the Godbomber helmet on the Starscream head. The Jetfire head will release ok, however, the mini head post on Starscream's head will get stuck in the headmaster port if you put it in the real way. This is very annoying to remove. Still can't recommend this set unless you really need headmaster scale figures of these characters. Jetfire can't stand on his own unless the red secondary cockpit is folded down. I couldn't get Starscream to stand upright and he's leaning backwards onto his tail fins.
I'm thinking the failure of these two is in giving them the vehicle mode. If they were simply Headmasters they'd likely be functionally better, imho.
