Like Notomus said, Superion is a good choice. I ended up getting a KO that's amazing quality. But I also have Bruticus, Abominus, Volcanicus (Dinobots are a given must-have) and love them all.
I'm not really sure we need and new combiners after CW, maybe some reissues with better paint apps and new heads, better combiner kibble. I don't see a reason to reinvent the wheel, except for Motormaster, maybe they should try again with that one.
I would like one (1) Transmetal BW Megatron that looks good and won't break in half. After that I'm good, roll out the G1 parade forever, release a whole line of Optimus Primes, I don't care.
The question is "still need", and I don't believe it's meant as for future new figures, but just what one is missing and wants, so either old or new.
Honestly, I've been wondering about that. Is this topic for figures that exist and we don't have, that don't exist at the moment but we'd like to see, or both? I lean toward the first, but it wasn't specified in the initial post.
My main display priority is 84/85, all thats missing from that group for me is... Grapple Thrust Ramjet If you want to go beyond the cartoon... Venom, Ransack, & Barrage Camshaft, Downshift, & Overdrive Bumper While not a priority it would be neat to finish off 1986 as well... Hubcap Ratbat Steeljaw Ramhorn Titans Return pretty much got most of 87 done but there are still a few I’m missing... Crosshairs, Sureshot, & Pointblank The Throttlebots (minus Chase) Twincast Apeface & Snapdragon Artfire Raiden/Trainbots Overkill & Slugfest after that from 88 to 90 theres to much to name but they aren’t a priorty and I could easily stop collecting without needing to complete them.
Yea, I'm saving up for project Raiden. Also, i'd easily buy all the euro g1 figures if they made them.
Need is such a strong word Beast Wars: Inferno and Quickstrike. Outrages that I don't have those two and I just don't buy them or even look for them. In my MP collection I have two gaps: Trailbreaker and Blitzwing. After those two, I consider that part of my collection done (save for possibly upgrading or downgrading some figures). For my non-MP G1 collection it's a bit less clear, since there's less of a plan with that. But great absences are: - Nightbeat. - Getaway, - a Fort Max that's not a Titan. The TW version would be perfect if only it was a centimeters taller. - likewise, a Scorponok that's not a Titan class, but a tall leader - a voyager Dreadwind and Darkwing: the PotP version are a) two small and b) in case of Dreadw not accurate enough- voyager Decepticon Targetmasters Slugslinger, Misfire and Triggerhappy -- again, the Titan's look amazing (and are very well designed), but outside of being headmasters they're just too small
Not a headmaster, not accurate to any source materiaal, and a gappy figures that I do not find appealing in any way. Still, thanks for the tip. (I don't visit BBTS because of their prices, international shipping rates and them being magnets for import taxes.)

It depends on what we mean by "need". If we talk about characters that definitely HAVE to be in my collection, I'll say Unicron and Scorponok, and if everything goes well in about 18 months I'll have a great representation for both of them. Characters I need to have a complete collection? Even if we limit to g1, they are too many to list, and having each and every character isn't really my goal. Characters I'd like to have?
