Is there an example of Livio's work where he only did the line art?
I'm continually amazed at his self-colored images where there is always clearly some light source that no one seems aware of, yet much of the composition is obscured in shadow.

I love Livio's artwork all around. Always has a great feel.
But I never knew his pencils were this good too!

I agree. You don't get much of a chance to see it like so, because the finished artwork is so focused on the lighting and mood. it's what makes Livio so difficult for other fans to appreciate, especially when the other artists are so detail oriented.

Not the first time LongHaul has been made into the "big guy." Look at his Combiner Wars figure and the previous IDW universe.

What @Hadlen_Weltall said. Remember, this iteration of IDW is almost slavishly using the last action figure produced for each character as a model base. Combiner Wars Constructicons looked like this:

Long Haul's just a big mamma jamma.

There have been several of his pieces that I have appreciated greatly -particularly some covers.
But sometimes I look at his work and think "what am I looking at?" and often his transitions through panels just don't flow well at all.

I'll never say he's not talented, he is very talented and I think in his own way he is very detail oriented.
It's just that I've been looking at his art for years and I keep seeing things like extreme light sources on subjects that are shrouded in shadow and my brain just can not think that it looks wrong.

    Just offering my perspective. :)

It's a fair assessment. It goes along with what he focuses his attention on, lighting and environment colors to set the tone of the scene and you can actually feel the temperature of the moment.

I'm enjoying his work these days. He's improved and I find it's easier to tell what's going on since the days when things were colored so darkly I couldn't see what was going on as well.

Out of complete curiosity, has Devastator ever used his gun to shoot anything at ALL in any medium? All I ever recall is him screaming and bum rushing stuff, or bashing things with his fists and/or whatever happens to be lying around.

Seems like giving him a big honking rifle is a total waste of resources anyways, as I'd give him a coin flip as to whether he'd shoot himself with it or just use it as a club.
