Is there any idea yet what each of these will cost? As with fanstoys menasor and superion plus MMC bruticus in my cross hairs I'm worried about being short of cash when these finally drop.

I'm glad you put that in blue, otherwise I'd be rather triggered lol, I'm used to getting cheaper ko's and the occasional cheaper reissue, now that I'm on to preorders and the more expensive 3p figures I am struggling to keep up with all I want/need to complete my G1 cast.

 

@Craigmcgowan1984 Just some words of wisdom from my past experience from the hobby but don't get too caught up on multiple Combiners Teams bc that will take a toll on your funds. I remember when I started the hobby I was in on 3 Combiners @ the same time and didn't finish 1 (Warbotron Computron) as it was almost every 2-3 weeks I had an invoice to pay for a Pre-order lol. In a way it took the fun outta figure I received as I didn't really have time to enjoy it. I really don't buy as much and I prioritize most not purchases nowdays. Just my

I'm just happy to see some movement away from 100% badly drawn (inconsistent) cartoon accuracy. Fandoms become a little obsessive lately on that.

G1 accuracy doesn't have to mean exact replica of the cartoon... you got the toys, the comics etc aswell. Each with slightly different variation.

For example, I find MP-10 the perfect G1 masterpiece Optimus Prime. It's what my childhood mind would have imagined if he were "real". Where as MP 44 is an exact replica of a poorly drawn Cartoon.

It's like we keep moving more and more in this direction...

Even if Jumbo action master could have transformed, I would still prefer the more detailed realistic version of constructor. Hell, even my child self would say the obvious choice would be constructor. They only looked like they did in the cartoon because of budget and lack of talented artist..

Point being, I am happy to see deviation from the slavish cartoon accuracy I've been seeing lately.

 

Exactly. Apparently I had more imagination than some as a child. I didn't play with my toys and imagine my toy Optimus Prime looked like this:

I never let a cartoon dictate my tastes, lol

 

I had that with alt modes. Back then I could not tell exactly which bot was which car. However, Inferno and Hot Spot made it really clear what they were. It made no sense that those did not match the cartoon. Now I we can actually make realistic alt modes so why not? That's the whole point of those earth vehicles.

For combiners, they could be made stable, more articulate, larger, if you take some liberties. It's fine, because the cartoon cheated  

 

I just found this thread and skimmed through the whole thing. These look amazing to me. I have jinbao feral rex already but I might get these as well. Can't wait to see them in color and in combined mode. I am already in on fanstoys Ethereon, and am putting together tfm havoc, glad these haven't been released yet, makes my wallet happy. I have also been thinking of getting Jinbao's nero rex. So many combiners so little money.

YES! If there is a real world vehicle they turn into, it should look accurate, not like some chibi penny racer bullshit. That is what MP was designed as: a modern update, not a slavish recreation of crappy artwork.

This will be replacing my JB Nero Rex. That sucker is a QC nightmare. Two of my bots have missing pins for the beast legs and the tolerances are all over the place. The combined mode can barely stand upright and the flimsy plastic doesn't help. Looks cool, but that's about it, lol.

I also own their Bruticus and just got Devastator. It's really amazing how far they've come. It's a huge leap in quality from Rex to the Combaticons, and an even bigger leap to the Devastator.

 

Yeah, Rex isn't very stable for sure, but he looks really cool. I haven't looked into tightening up any joints to help yet. Don't know that I can. Even though, I still want nero rex. I also have Bruticus and Devastator, and it's amazing how much better they got with each one. I just got a fairly good deal on Fanstoys roadking and spoiler, so now I am putting together 2 Menasors. I am a sucker for combiners. Also I don't really care if they are toon acurrate or anything like that. I just want really cool looking robots.
