You make a good point about Starscream preferring something vain, but I was thinking more about the Seekers in general. Though I will say I'd love to see another take on the Seekers where they all have different jet modes and bodies; since a whole squadron of identical bots can get a bit stale and overdone. Yeah the Raptor is pretty much the greatest aircraft ever built, and also sexy as hell so it fits Starscream pretty well as Air Commander and self-proclaimed rightful leader. Thundercracker is the closest any Seeker is to "no-nonsense," so I'd make him an Eagle, Skywarp would be an F-117 Nighthawk for an excuse to make him black, and Dreadwing would be one of the Blue Angels' F/A-18 Hornets so he could keep his TFP colors. Maybe throw in two more Seekers so the A- 10 and F-16 can get some representation.

As for an F-22 blending in, it wouldn't be because more were in service than the F-15 because it's so perfect the US only ever built less than 200 Raptors knowing they're unstoppable anyway, which is certainly way less than the Eagle; but rather as long as Starscream keeps his radar off he's virtually invisible in any airspace, given the Raptor's own radar footprint is about the size of a bird.

 

In all seriousness, SS prime is good and so is this KO, but let's not kid ourselves, one is more accurate by a large margin

But yeah, we'll see. Their more modified stuff tends to either be more expensive, or cheaper but worse quality. We'll see how it goes.

 

There's no doubt the TW version is the best iteration of this character. For me the BMB will suffice....... For now lol

 

Oh, and on the point of the Seekers looks, I think they should all have the same overal body shae, but have different accents.
Starscream would be a bit thin and blocky, Thundercracker would be thin and angular, and Skywarp would be bulkier and smoother than the other two.

 

The crotch of Freedom is more appealing.

It's the Black Mamba KO upscale of the Studio Series Prime, they added light up eyes, a weapon and some other minor retooling.
I'm waiting for comparison reviews before I buy this one or the other OS - Wei Jiang one.

That would have been cool. The movies never really even implied that there were other seekers (aside from maybe Jetfire, I don't even know if Starscream was even referred to as a seeker), but it definitely wouldn't have bothered me if they were different jets, like how studio series is doing it. Or maybe the same jet with different body types, as @Reygn mentioned. That would fit in with the Dreads as well. I guess I don't mind having three similar characters, but once you start adding in all the other KO-looking ones like the rainmakers and acid storm and all that and you're seeing the same character over and over and over and people start buying 7 or 8 of the exact same toy then I'm out. I didn't mind how they seemed to be a mass-produced army in the Bumblebee movie though I guess that was OK.

So to stay on topic: I actually put a preorder in for this guy yesterday with @ShowZStore. I decided that the improvements are enough to warrant a purchase, since Toyworld seems to be weird about freedom leader, and he's gonna be really big and not very portable anyways. My favorite thing to do with figures is take pictures, so big figures are way less mobile and harder to shoot. Plus I have a small apartment.

I think calling this an OS KO is a stretch. There are clearly a number of fairly major differences, not just in the deco, but the transformation. Certainly it's based on/inspired by SS38, but Magic Square MS-01 is also based on MP-10 and it's not a KO...

 

I dunno, I feel like even if it takes 20% of the parts from the original, it's still technically a KO. A true 3P figure should be built from the ground up, even if it shares engineering with an official product.
