Yeah, I agree. Does Hasbro have a limited amount of blue plastic they're allowed to use?   . There things I'd have done differently, and I'd love to see more modern day alt modes (bows head for a moment of silence for the first iteration of IDW verse  ), but seeing as this probably about as close perfect as main retail line we're going to get, and I don't plan to wait another 10 yrs, I will be getting this.

Even if they do a nemesis repaint, I think I’m sticking with potp nemesis. I like the idea that nemesis literally uses his trailer as extra armor and dwarves Optimus in size.

Really tempted (SLIGHTLY) MORE now by Takara Siege Nemesis. Because Siege Prime is STILL IMHO a fun Transformer and I'm not sure I need a Nemesis trailer and it would be kind of cool for them to share similar robot modes but have differences.

That said, watch Hasbro turn around and do an Earthrise Nemesis with an alternate head sculpt ala PotP that blows Takara Siege Nemesis out of the water. Or go one further and give him a Scourge style trailer overhaul.

If Optimus gets a retool here, it could well be a Siege Ultra Magnus to Galaxy Optimus level retool and if there's basically one thing that would push this mold into evergreen status, it'd probably be giving it two alternate heads and one alternate tanker trailer. That basically ensures a possible 15 years of reuse IMHO.

 

I think majority swings the other way, I personally saw more people upset with the color of the toy's hands than the toy's eyes. In a perfect world we'd get the toy with blue hands & yellow eyes but I think consensus is blue hands & blue eyes is close enough. I'm personally hoping a 3rd Party comes out with replacement heads because I think the head looks off, it works but it just looks off to me.

 

when they make a figure, they have to fit the part locations on the mould plates as best they can, with space to get rid of any air, this means each colour only has a certain amount of space on each mould, and im guessing the hands and the back of his head didnt make the cut and may have even been moulded along with the trailer. still, its going to be hard to beat this figure, and if the miscoloured parts bug enough people, third partes will include a set with a trailer or weapons at some point.

 

Ya know, I had to question myself on that one -- I know the toys (g1 and solar storm) both had black heads, but somewhere in my memory banks I was like no, wait, I remember Grapple with the orange head (cartoon)

 

The only thing disappointing is I think this SS looks to have lost his waist swivel that he had from Siege.

 

Yeah Warden said their would have had to have been major compromises to have kept the swivel.

 

Main thing i miss from siege Starscream that's not on ER Starscream is the port on his forearm for his nullrays. I know the G1 show had it on his forearm but i find it annoying that every time i try to move his arm or forearm im slightly hindered by the huge fricken nullray, so with every siege seeker I would place the nullrays on their forearms. Other than that im really excited for this Screamer and love how they based him off the universe mold.

 

I have had some thoughts about the orange helmet on Grapple.

The recent trend of slavish cartoon accuracy in recent years is kinda annoying. When it comes to G1, I’m more of a comic guy myself, so I prefer things like Ratchet having a red helmet with a white crest, Frenzy being the blue one, and Grapple having a black helmet (but to a lesser extent in Grapple’s case since he did not ever really do anything in the cartoon or comic, as far as I can recall).

But usually, when I prefer something from the comic over the cartoon, it’s because of something more than just “I read the comic first, so that means everything has to be exactly like the comic or else I will die.” For instance, I really dislike Ratchet’s cartoon color scheme, specifically his head. It just looks out of place for his head crest to be the only part of his body that has black on it. His head really needs more color to help tie it to the rest of his body.
Plus, these two particular examples that I used just don’t have very much color at all. It would help if you were to combine the parts where they each had red onto each other. But then, although it would have the right amount of red in my opinion, the black crest would still stick out. Which is again why I feel the helmet should be red. Even the versions of Ratchet who compromise by keeping the helmet white but making the crest red (classics, Animated, Prime/NuRiD, Travis Knight) look better because they don’t have the black and put in red instead. If you look at my avatar picture, that’s basically the perfect amount of red and white for a Ratchet design to have.

This brings me to Grapple. I care less about him, because like I said, I don’t remember him doing much. But from a strictly aesthetic view, I feel that it would look better for him to have a black helmet, because he does have other black details on other parts of his body, and it would set his head apart from the rest of his weird ladder thing. The orange helmet kinda makes it look like somebody took the paint bucket tool and just filled in his entire upper body with bright orange. In fact, it sort of looks like Hasbro outsourced his character model to some error-prone Korean animation studio who hastily filled in the colors without paying much attention to what they were doing.

I think I'd rather reserve the black head for Inferno (and probably Artfire, as well). It would offer more of a contrast in heads between the two (or three).
