It would be awesome if Disney did a CW style animated Heir to the Empire to fill in the time gap to TFA.

Maybe. But I'd much rather they do a full on feature with the CGI clones from ep 2 and 3 for a true clone wars movie :D  I know that'll never happen, but one can dream.

I would be all over that too. Republic Commando would work just fine for me.

To me, those Commandos would be like...a side story. But hell, I'd watch that too in the typical movie CGI style :D

Why would they do that when they can make meaningless shows for 3 year olds and useless novels to completely waste that 30 year gap?

Yeah this has always been really good. Really gives a dramatic heft to the fight that the original couldn’t possibly have had considering it was the very first film. I think the use of prequel quotes is a bit too indulgent, though, but it’s a nitpick. It’s very well done, exciting, and shows us what Ben likely was still capable of in a prolonged fight (as opposed to his samurai one and done fight with Maul who was a very different foe than Vader). Also cool to hear Rebels quotes.

Yeah, you can feel the seething hatred in Vader in the way he impatiently Force levitates the saber hilt into his hand, the angry way he walks, and just nearly cuts off Obi-Wan as he talks and just lays into his former master. Very well done.

Very brutal, knock down fight and shows off just how devastating a weapon a laser sword (potentially) is with small touches like scorching the metal walls and burning into Obi-Wan's robes as he disappears into and becomes one with the Force.

The ANH duel was very much a product of the limitations of its time with the fragile rotoscoping tech they had available to them. Two old men gingerly poking at each other with sticks was about all they could do with it.

The featurette where they showcase the making of the SC38 Duel is very cool too where they reveal the tricks behind the VFX:

Maybe not a feature, but I could see a Clone Wars series, focusing on the troopers, being made for Disney+ at some point.

    Impressive... most impressive.

This is the sort of thing that I would be ok with them changing in regards to a "special edition" and not say a crappy Jabba for no reason.

I actually really like this. I've seen some people complain about it but I honestly don't feel the complaints. Unlike some edits, this doesn't feel gratuitous or unnecessary. I feel like it adds to the scene and makes it as emotional as was probably originally written or intended. I mean... there was only so much they could do back in 1977 and with a guy as old as Guinness.

Or just wipe the Sequel Trilogy from canon and have said CW-style Heir to the Empire saga replace it altogether.

I don’t have a problem with the ST. And if I did I don’t see the point of bitching about things that aren’t going to change.

Yes, please. I would actually be at least a little bit (albeit cautiously) optimistic towards the Disney canon if they simply do just that.

The ST isn't going anywhere, like it or not. But, it would be really cool if Disney could embrace the "Legends"/Old EU a bit more, and actually put out animated adaptions of stories like Heir to the Empire and Dark Empire.

Just have a catch-all banner called like "Farther Galaxies" or something for spin-off/non-canon timelines.

Exactly: Cater to the Expanded Universe fans by adapting some great Legends stories into animated films or miniseries and slap the "Legends" moniker on there. Boom, Disney just got my money there.
