Im not going to make up my mind just yet, sure Im expecting more with the trailer but then it's still work in progress as they've claims and seeing how they redesign Overlord's tank parts to make it look more realistic, I believe in them. The down side is it might require another year of waiting, but with Athena and multiple version of god bomber to fill up the gap, I think it's expected.

I think the Takara one looks better, but it's CHUG-sized, right? So I guess I'll get both.

 

Given that that picture is literally all we've seen of the Takara one ever. so FH's will almost certainly be first.

Takara announced one at winter wonderfest late last year/early this year, and have not mentioned it since.

 

Ah! Almost forgot them  Well even though the takara ones look better, Ive learned not to trust grey mold in general, if takara's final product looks/feel like their Ginrai, you won't see me on this train.

 

Look closely. The earlier render has those side containers that the original had, there are no prominent front facing cannons and I think the thread placement is a bit different.

 

both of these looks good to me. while I like the looks of Takara's more Fans Hobby version also looks good. I would buy both especially if it convinces one of the two companies to do more Armada figures. I will always prefer official to 3p but since Takara's is missing at the moment its better than nothing in my opinion.

 

Takara's is a nice reimagining that I suspect would look nice with the Hot Shot and Starscream, while FH has a nice near-MP. No competition, simply different goals. In conclusion: buy both and support the fucc outta these when they finally surface.

 

I definitely will be getting both. I want to do my part to show that the UT is somewhat profitable for Official and 3P projects to come to light. Fingers crossed for an Armada Megatron

I really do hope that Fanshobby massively improve their version though. Their changes to Overlord from resin to release give me confidence that they’re going to do something good here.

I still need to acquire both their Overlord and Power Baser actually.

 

As far as the regular bot mode goes, I definitely prefer what I am seeing from Fanshobby so far and that’s most important to me since I love the combined mode of the original. But I am still a bit bumbed that the MP-only crowd came and ruined this little chug resurrection project mind you (not even speaking of my ‘chug upscaled to MP scale’ pet peeve here). Sigh, can’t blame the market, or so they say.

Anyway, I will be probably end up getting both, if only to compare.

 

I'm confident FH will have a Megatron not too far behind Optimus. They've been good about giving each hero their counterpart to my knowledge. Also Armada Megatron was my first ever TF so you know I'm all in on that

 

I hope so as it would likely be better than the homage that was the redeco of Combiner Wars Megatron.

 

..I don't see any Mini-Con ports. The shoulders are flat, the trailer looks flat. I don't think we're getting a Sparkplug which really bites

I don’t think they have, they’ve given their power master prime/nemesis the power masters and their Minerva is getting her headmaster.

They just likely haven’t got to him yet because they’re so busy tweaking the main figure.

It would be completely unlike them not to.

 

To be fair, Hasbro kinda forgot about him, too. How many episodes did it take for him to get a name that stuck? I seem to recall him being "Leader 1" on more than one occasion, and possibly something else in the middle.

 

The show was similar to G1 in that it had lots of animation/dialogue errors but not as many.

I think there was even one episode where Cyclonus is referred to as Demolisher. It might be the one with Nemesis Prime in it.

I think it’s also possible that Sparkplug might very well be an add on upgrade later down the line if they can’t figure him out at the time or release. That’s problematic though because the Armada characters are somewhat designed around the minicons and their functionality.
