I like the death greying. I've never liked the idea of TFs being made of standard everyday metal that's covered in paint. It makes them seem too much regular old lifeless machines, instead of being a living life form. Their pigment should have something to do with their biology, the same way color happens in organic life.

And more importantly, it would also stop a lot of the "is he *really* dead or not" arguments that happen every time a TF gets badly injured.

    That's a pretty cool idea. :thumbs2:

I like the greying and having the nanites determine coloration

Then again, considering that death in comics (and often cartoons) is never really final, having some signifier that this is permanent or "real" isn't really helpful.

Humans are in essence colonies of millions or billions of single-celled life forms. Why wouldn't inorganic sentient robots be composed of billions of nanomachines?

I'll say no because their colors are not necessarily their skin color but sometimes paint. Like when Bumblebee and Smokescreen got new paint jobs in TFP

Eh. I mean sure what not. Sound logical enough for scifi.
But seems like a cop out.
Have them different? Have them interesting. If everything just works the same way; thats kind of boring and bad writing.

Not a huge fan of the greying effect. I could take it or leave it really it works for the occassional death(OPtimus) but on the whole I think it's an unnecessary effect.

Well those weren't actual paint jobs. Smokescreen called it 'scanning new war paint' which signifies to me that they just scanned a like car in different colors than the first time.

I'd like to see the graying occur over time, like actual necrosis, instead of all at once like in the G1 movie.
