Hang on, I'm trying to imagine you standing before, like, Judge Judy and she's trying to understand the depth of this first-world problem here, where you didn't get the exact shade of blue that was advertised to you on this gray-market product homaging a cartoon character from three decades ago, so it will look right on the shelf next to your other gray-market, imported figures homaging other characters from said 35-year-old programme and can the court please contact the Chinese authorities to right this grievous wrong.

I keep end up picturing the Joe Rogan belly laugh soundbyte, sort of like around 1:05 into this clip.

 

Umm, I posted a picture a little while ago of Jabber and Sovereign next to each other, and the purples are nearly the same. Not even close to blue.

 

If it was a shade of blue we wouldn't have a problem...

 

A reading of the dark blue part:



I can only measure a few spots as this device requires a flat surface. They are in the ballpark. Please note that Jabber isn't as blue as shown in this pic, but it is close.

L = lightness. 0 = black, 100 = white
a = green (-) to red (+)
b = blue (-) to yellow (+)

So it has 40 parts blue to 20 parts red.

According to an online converter, its RGB value is 73, 61, 134 (#493D86).

It is up to the individual to decide if this is blue or purple. Some people don't call this blue because it falls outside what they consider blue, but it isn't true purple either.

 

The instructions are gobleddygook and the tab is not obvious at all. It's painstakingly camouflaged in his butt flap.

I also have all three (and a bunch of bots that are actually blue) and Jabber definitely leans towards purple. It's not the correct colour blue for the character or the blue that was shown before it shipped. It's not even a debate.

It actually looks more blue in photos than in person.

 

Cause it's not what was advertised. Or the correct colour.

This may work for some but not all - the tab had a little flash on it for mine but as this is softer plastic you may get away with just pushing it in, however i also had a load of flash in the tab hole - it looked like a sprue in there, and no way that tab was going in.
Admittedly it was an easy fix to remove from the hole, but that may not be the case for all.

 

I thought mine was dark blue but on closer inspection I'm leaning towards purple? Borderline anyway.

 

it really depends on what lighting you are using. Under white light / sunlight...it's blue. Under other light it's purple-ish. Don't know why they just did not go with a straight up blue...it would not have been a hard thing to do.

 

Do you want to get made fun of on the internet? Because talking about suing a toy manufacturer over a color change is a good way to get made fun of on the internet. I mean I'm annoyed too (not so much by the color - it looks fine - but by the fact that FT can't be bothered to release real product shots before shipping their figures out) but let's be honest here - they're much better about this than the average mainline toy manufacturer. Growing up, we'd always see different colors on the boxes than what the actual toy had. Sometimes wildly different. Nobody considered it false advertising; it was just a fact of life. I agree that, at these prices, these third parties should be going the extra mile but literally every judge in the world would laugh you out of their court if you tried to sue over this.

I was wondering if anybody would do this. I assumed that such a device existed and hoped somebody would take an actual measurement, if for no other reason that to put an end to the "are your eyes weird?" talk. 1 part red to 2 parts blue is pretty purple in my book.

 

Said all along it's a dark blue with purple hues. And I still think it's the metallic flake that contributes to the purple hues when in most lighting conditions. All good. Two parts blue, one part red is essentially a shade of blue/indigo on the purple end of the spectrum. And very far from the bright pastel blue that was advertised.  

 

This saves me a trip to home depot for a color match  

 

Do you want to keep cherry picking posts and not pay attention to the fact that I said I would never actually sue anyone? As I said, I was making a point about 1. They clearly false advertised and 2. They obviously originally knew what the right color was to begin with and then late in the game decided to screw over their customers because "we felt it needed more bling".

 

Yes, you're absolutely right. I should have quoted every single post you've ever made and taken the time to address all of them word by word, pausing to elaborate on every subtle nuance so that I wouldn't be guilty of "cherry picking."
