the SS toy of Ratchet and Starscream are simple tweaks of their DOTMs at best. Hastak was already working on their MPM's around that time which is why both their ROTF/DOTM repaints was release in the same year. It's not speculation or coincidence but Ratchet and SS are bound by fate to be next MPMs.

Reason being is because they both have firearms and a buzzsaw. They both have identically structured hands with three fingers and two thumbs, their legs are almost the same chicken style, and they've both gone through poetic events (including color changes) in the films.


In 07, one started using all of his weapons (Including his Buzzsaw), and was fully charismatic (Ratchet) whereas the other only used his firearm with no Buzzsaw and wasn't really talkative at the time (Starscream). they were both kickass characters overall in their original color scheme of 07.

As ROTF/DOTM happened, one gave up his Buzzsaw and only stuck with his firearm (Ratchet) as the other began using all of his (Starscream). They both got nerfed as soon they changed appearance from 07 but one got less talkative (Ratchet) than the other (Starscream). As the echoing cycle of their fate came a close, they both met their end by a human (or nearly) in an agonizing pain with no mercy given and were both last seen as dismembered heads witnessed at the grievance/rage of their leaders, who they both stayed close by until the end.

The moral of this poem (sorry if I haven't executed it right) is that Ratchet and Starscream are poetically the same, even in toy form.

Great pictures and info! And yeah, it's definitely some of Bay's lighting and colour correction that give Ratchet more of a yellow then the green the actual Hummer is.

 

The paint on ratchet might be different in the sunlight as, i know the original voyager ratchet from the 2007 line looks green inside but when you take it outside it turn yellow.

 

I’m noticing stores around me are restocking older waves for Christmas. Seen Bonecrusher and Ironhide. Strange.

Nice scale. I've always liked this scaling system since it makes good use out of the first Movie and ROTF's totally and pitifully undersized Deluxe-Voyagers Decepticons. Also, SS Bonecrusher and Long Haul (maybe Scavenger too?) do well here. Ah if only there were a Scout Ratchet to go with Deluxe Ironhide and Prime...

Have you tried to track down the actual House of Kolor paints? I know that they're quite expensive but you can find affordable small ready-to-spray bottles.

 

Is this the greatest satire of our time?

 

I tried but in the Netherlands they only go by quarts and are extremely expensive.. AND the candy colors need a lot of clear and that just isnt doable on a Transformer, the paint would need to be to thick. I have setteled for a close enough lime yellow and added a pearl clear. The color is as close as I can get for a repaint. Closest color on the actual toys was the fast action battler.
I did however had the decals custom made so that when the rear wheels work, the decals wil be 100% movie acurate.
