So after working on the hook hand for Impactor - the 2 other large bugbears reared their head! These were the really hollow back portions of the lower waist and legs and also the fact the the canon on top wasn't centered.

So it was time to whip up these two quick fixes for them:

The filler plates are somewhat similar to the ones for Ratchet from before and simply slide into place to cover the unsightly hollowed parts. Since there was more space on the lower leg portion, threw in a 5mm peg hole for good measure to allow for weapons and such to be attached.

The other small fix was to fix how the canon wasn't exactly centered on the turret. Not exactly the biggest issue but kinda bugged me:

So what was done here was just a little peg piece, which will allows the canon to be mounted, via its 5mm peg hole, onto the little slot that is on the back of Impactor's head when the head is folded down in tank mode.

This allows the canon to be centered in alt mode and also gives it a bit of elevation.

    And thereeeee we go!:

Hope this helps those of you who may want to "tidy" up Impactor a little!

The 3d print files have been released publicly here - Filler Plates and Canon Peg Addons for Siege Impactor | Funbie Studios on Patreon so have fun with these! =)

It's projects like this that make me wish I had a 3D printer.
    Nice job!

Thank you! Actually, if you can find maybe a buddy with it, or even a makerspace or library which you can get access to a 3d printer, that may work too!

Feel that its a great idea to explore those options to get a sense of things, chat with folks who are already using 3d printing, before deciding if you wanna get one too ;)

Nice one - kind of super pleased he just got made - but if only he had these legs filled in (and was voyager size to go with siege springer) I think he would have been about as good as you could hope to get for an official version of someone that is essentially a comics only character.

... Not really (yet) into the printing game, but was kind of curious - what your approach is to getting the dimensions for stuff like this ? Do you just cardboard mock it, measure, 3d model and then have to just trial and error the print/sanding until it works? Or do you find each project is just different?

Yes definitely! Still great to have gotten him though the one with the "correct" head is in that darn 3-pack.

For getting the dimensions on these, its actually just a lot of caliper work and then tons of trial and error. Behind the scenes, had actually gone through 6-7 rounds of iterations before settling on the size which seems to work best. Also had to consider for how fine a typical 3d printer could do. Sanding is normally not part of the approach as the idea is to make it such that anyone could print it and pop it off, ready to go.

Sizing tests will be like a small flat, detail-less piece which can be printed in a matter of minutes. Once that is dialed in, the fun bit of detailling and all can come in!

Thanks for sharing the files, those legs fillers may get me to turn my printer on again, I haven't bothered with it in months. He's such a solid figure, but those leg voids - it's like Hasbro just HAD to take his otherwise good build and imperfect it in their own special way.

I haven't seen your upgraded hook hand but I might have to track that down too.

You have a spare clip point now - perhaps a radar dish, rocket box or light machine gun could sit on there.

I made the fillers, they fit great, nice and snug.

The waist filler was missing the ring details after printing - not sure if it's my setup or the model. I did re-orient the parts to lay flat when printing, maybe that did it. No big deal either way.

    Thanks again.

Hoooooboy, now you've done it and given me more ideas .... Hahah ... Watch this space I guess? :)

Ah, for these detailed piece, it's better to print them vertically upright to maximize the details as the z axis gives you the best resolution - much like lithopane printing. :)

Thanks for putting these files out for free! I just got Impactor myself and it's all I needed to make this figure perfect for me!
