I agree painted eyes make more sense why go down this route?

 

Screw all the electronics... I thought KO was all about a cheaper megs. I would never put batteries in it anyway, all the talking racket would drive me crazy.

 

this makes me want to wait for the IT version.

also if you look at it. the color is a bit darker i think.

Not necessarily. Loads of figures now have paint over light up led eyes. The official Primal and Dinobot both have painted eyes with in-built LED’s. I assume the Dinobot KO does as well? Plenty of 3P products do as well.
We are seeing an early test shot that is not fully painted. It’s missing the lilac stripes, face paint and many painted details. There’s a chance the eyes will be painted as well. I doubt we’ll get the swiveling Dino eyes that the official has however.
Hopefully they’re still planning on English voice clips.

LOL. Just kidding.
Folks have been getting into multi-page arguments in the FansToys Blurr, Cyclonus and Galvatron threads for years over blue vs purple vs blurple.
Suffice to say purple is a colour that is almost impossible to photograph accurately and different phones, tablets and screens can all display the exact same photo in a range of hues.
There’s really no way to tell how this will compare to the official unless there’s a photo of them standing side by side. The closest we’ve got is this one from the front page and they look pretty similar to me.

I already own the official so I’m not heavily invested either way. I’m just curious to see how it all shakes out.

 

Yeah I'm in the same boat really. I have the original and am very happy with it, but I'd like a second copy for beast mode. However having been 'stung' by IT-02 I'm gonna leave this one until its out and we get some proper reviews in.

Hm.... the Dino eyes seem fine here. Guess it won’t be an issue....

 

Unless that's actually just the original toy and they are duping us.

Ye that looks too good. IT and the no-brand KO couldn’t even do Dinobot’s stripes well so I wouldn’t expect Megatron to look just like the MP.

 

that was also my initial thought when i saw the pic and vid. the color in the first vid showing the chinese voice was way darker. or idk it might be just the light. also the eyes looks like the taktom's mp43. anyway, if it really looks like that then let's just commend them for doing great job. most likely the next update will be next week again. thats what ive noticed, theres like 7 days interval before they show new updates.

 

Really hard to say. The eyes are definitely painted now and it looks like they swivel, unless they sculpted it with the pupils facing down like that. If the eyes are painted, swivel AND light up, that's pretty impressive.
Other details look fine, so it's really hard to know. My gut instinct would be that lying and showing images of someone else's product isn't going to help a products sales in the long run? Show something that's distinctly different from what you ship and people will take note. You only have to look at the grief that FansToys is still receiving for their Blurr colour choices to know how problematic that can be... and that's FT who are a known, popular company and get given a heck of a lot of leeway. An unknown pulling a shifty, swifty like that is going to lose sales quickly. TLDR? It would be pretty dumb for a no-name company like this to try and fool people with fake pics wouldn't it?.

I dunno about Dinobot as I never bothered to pick him up. But the paint on Cheeotr or Megatron ISN'T really super complex or using some secret high tech process. It's a single flat colour as a base coat and another flat colour as details on top. Cheetor is yellow base coat with pixelated black dots. Megatron is purple base coat with pixelated mauve stripes. Look closely at the spots and stripes and they are just solid paint with a "dot matrix" printed effect like an old school 80's printer, There's no shading or colour gradation or anything like that there. Even Megatrons Dino spine is just two shades of green.
The paint effects on ArtFX, Hot Toys are more complicated than the official MP. Heck, even Star Wars black series and Marvel Legends action figures have more complicated painting and shading than MP's. Compare it to the weathering effects on ToyWorlds stuff.
There's really nothing earth-shattering involved in matching the paint of the official BW stuff - Primal's the only one that's used a fancy paint technique so far.
I thought the issues with Dinobot's paint was more around getting the stripes in the right place/ missing stripes or having them not match (they were missing stripes on the haunch or somthing?) - As I said, I skipped Dinobot though so don't have the full details.

 

Thanks but I’m well aware of all of that already. The tones and blend of Megatron’s paint is more what leads me to believe that’s an official product pictured. IT’s Dinobot used different shades of the desired colours which contrasted more and didn’t blend as naturally as TT’s so I’m just expecting a KO Megatron to have far more prominent stripes.
It shouldn’t be that difficult to identify the two tones of purple to use but the dot matrix effect really aids in the illusion of blending and I’m really not expecting the KO to have that. Just your standard splodges of random shapes heavily slapped all over him.
