This is what I'm thinking.

 

Amazing... so you'd, perhaps, suggest that trying to be 100% faithful to inconsistent animation models is ridiculous? Or, in an effort to do so, there must be compromise?

Still, the idea that "Sunbow animation model" is what anyone thinks they were going for with a Prime figure with a blue face and yellow eyes seems interesting to me.

 

no there can never be compromise, I DEMAND HASBRO MAKE A NEW G1 OPTIMUS PRIME THATS 100% ACCURATE TO ALL OF THE INCONSISTENCIES TOO!!!
apparently hes going to have blue eyes (and presumably a silver face?) now, but he is based off the same base design siege prime was, hence the shared parts, and siege prime was based of his sunbow model so yes earthrise prime is still based off the cartoon even if there are liberties taken or other g1 prime inspirations are added like the toy deco face(maybe not anymore?) and his very bumblebee movie looking truck mode.
and obviously he isn't going to be as accurate to the cartoon model as the recent masterpiece is but still

i just like being able to see Optimus Prime's eyes. The shade of blue is almost never vibrant enough to contrast the silver of his face and blue of his helmet and not be lost.

Not to mention with his highlights all usually being yellow it just blends better.

 

Oh good, we've found something else to bitch about now that his hands are blue.

I've yet to see a picture of these blue hands and blue eyes.

 

I think I see what some people were getting at regarding how Earthrise Optimus was a mix of Siege OP and SS BB OP. It looks like the gas canisters fold inwards to become the back of the thighs.

Actually if anything, I'm more concerned about the blue and yellow square in Earthrise OP's belt aren't being colored in. @Phamduc, did they color those parts in yet or are they still grey?

 

the grey piece at crotch was painted metallic blue. big rectangle in the middle was not painted yellow.

 

Do I need to qualify every instance where I say “hey sucks the eyes aren’t yellow anymore, that was the thing that made this figure unique” with “still this figure looks awesome and I can’t wait to buy him”?

Because, yeah, that is how I feel.
