My newer preorders for Prime and Megatron don't yet say delayed, but now the listings for anyone ordering today say they won't ship out til Nov 15 instead of today, Nov 1st. Not that I expected mine to ship out today anyway given how so very organized Walmart isn't.

I am not surprised that this cel-shaded look debate has become so polarizing, but some people really need to calm down. I'ts just a deco. Obviously, the look isn't going to appeal to everyone, but how old the fan is shouldn't really even make a bit of difference as to whether he/she likes it. I'm 46 and grew up with G1, but nostalgia has absolutely nothing to do with why I like that deco. I love it because it looks just like it did in the Devastation game, as others have said. The cel-shading doesn't evoke the look of the G1 toon itself to me, but definitely the game. Also, While I don't have a hatred of battle-damage art in general, I didn't like how it looked on the original Siege versions, so wanted an alternative. That was among the reasons Combat Hero Megatron's deco worked for me, and I look forward to Earthrise Prime.

People also seem to forget that it's a figure celebrating the 35th anniversary, so it's not surprising they wanted to do something that might look retro in some respect. Sure, they could have gone for a plain clean deco, but I like having this option. I'm also not hellbent on having every figure in my collection match up perfectly with everything else. But everyone has their own preferences, which should be aired respectfully without an annoyed rant ensuing or a tome on why a deco does or doesn't suck. Nor can it really be compared to "plus" editions of Masterpieces as it's not like we've often gotten decos like this in a mainstream toyline which Masterpiece is not. This gives the more mainstream demographic a chance to be exposed to such a deco and they can decide for themselves since it's not something most retail Transformers shoppers are used to seeing.

(Mind you, I can't for the life of me figure out why they slapped the 35th anniv label on Soundblaster while keeping all the battle damage. I would have expected him to be a Selects figure and a cel-shaded Soundwave to be offered under the 35th anniv banner instead. But I digress.)

While I don't need to see an entire line in this deco, i wouldn't mind seeing more designs like this appear on future figures for whatever occasion or subline.

 

I ordered Megatron the day he went up and I'm still waiting for him to ship. This is getting ridiculous.

 

I have my three Walmart friends keeping their eyes peeled for Soundblaster and Bluestreak.

 

Went to 1 of my local walmarts today... I asked them where the 35th anniversary transformers endcap display was...

Their response was... "... endcap, for transformers...?"

Fml, smh.

 

Did they charge you immediately? Because i could of swore thet charged me immediately but now its sayimg they have problems with the expiration date. However everything is golden & theres more then enough in the account. Like alot more so i cant figure out the problem.

Also did you mean when they weny up on the 31st ready to ship that day or did you mean back when the listing 1st went up like i did?? Thanks for any help

Wondering how his head works, glue, no glue ect, trying to see if it’s worth the trouble and the cash

 

I mean when they went up for preorder months ago. They were supposed to ship October 1st but, surprise, mystery delay.

I can't tell if they charged me yet. The mobile site's order detail view shows "VISA 1234" about 25 times. Not sure if they kept reauthorizing the card or more H1B kwalite programming at work. In any case, it's a card with plenty of room and a distant expiration date, so it shouldn't be a problem.

 

It's glued together, so it may be tricky swapping the visors between Soundblaster and Soundwave.

Side note: I skipped the G1 toon "cell shaded" Prime and Megs. Not really my cup of tea. Money saved!
Now winding down / ending my Siege purchases..not buying much..
Eagerly waiting for the new Earth Rise series of stuff next year!

 

As expected, it seems only one Walmart within my area has gotten the endcap, much less any of the 35th Anniversary stuff. While that might change as we edge closer and closer to Black Friday, I definitely do not regret paying a mark up for Bluestreak on Ebay. Hell, I only ever saw the Minibots in one Walmart and it was only Wave 1 stuff. Walmart's handling of exclusives is so hit and miss I didn't want to take any chances with Bluestreak.

 

The one i went to had 6-7 of each exclusive they were blocked by a storage cart filled with unopened boxes of toys
So I didn’t notice until I almost left the toy section they put it in the middle of the walk area and just unintentionally hid it from people, i pushed it all out the way
And looked for the perfect paint jobs
Unfortunately i only got near perfect
99% had way too many errors

 

Authorization charges. My preorder did the same thing, it kept re-authorizing every 3-4 days. Each reauthorization dropped off after around a week.

 

Bluestreak came back up for order on the site again, so this time I ordered for in-store pickup to a store that cliamed to have 6+ in stock, and I actually got him today! My regular store still has 0, and my pickup order at that store is still delayed (or was, I cancelled it). The store with inventory was about 40 minutes away. They still don't have the end-cap set up.
So, if you can, order it for in-store pickup at a store with inventory. It might help you get one.

 

This would be my advice. If you can still order them, go in and do ship to store. If you see a store by you, order it. When you get a confirmation, cancel the delayed order. That's how I got mine.

 

Walmart.com's site is so screwed up even that wouldn't work. Even though there's none around me, my Mom's on a trip in Cleveland so I looked at their inventory checker for the cell-shaded two and sure enough, they were at every Wal-Mart close by. So I tried using "Pickup today" and every time I checked out with them, it just said "We're sorry. There was an error. Please reload your cart."

Happened in different browsers, on different computers. Would NOT let me buy them for store pickup. Luckily she was still willing to go and get them manually, just got them a few hours ago. (My mom really is the best. Especially since these were Optimus and Megatron toys, which there's like 10 out of each. Good thing for Facetime so I could point them out to her.)

 

I've seen these in person, Prime and Megatron look okay, but ultimately I prefer the regular editions. The base colors of cell shaded Prime are good. Had it come with unpainted windows, no cell shaded paint apps but blue/purple weathering instead to bring out the panel lines(not the paint splatter weathering), I would've preferred it over the regular release.

I much prefer the base colors of the regular Megatron.

 

i just placed a new set of orders for both Optimus and Megatron since they were available to ship immediately and got them today

then I cancelled my old preorder which wasn't moving forward after all this time

this seems to be a bug in the walmart.com fulfilment system, as it happened to me with both Marvel and Star Wars preorders that never got filled when it came in stock

 

Still haven't shown up at any Walmarts here. I ordered a Bluestreak for store pickup last week but it's been delayed. I fucking hate Walmart.
