So I did something maybe kinda foolish, but goddamn I was pissed off. I'd pre-ordered the entire Endgame Thor BAF wave at Amazon in July, scheduled for release December 18th. Yesterday, I woke up & checked my e-mails like usual (goddammit Google, ENOUGH with the Google-Fi solicits!), and see an Order Update from them, which isn't anything new. Several things that I've pre-ordered have had their dates moved up a bit. THIS one, however, said that my new delivery date is Saturday, Nov. 2nd, and I've already been charged for the figures. Now, this might sound awesome to some of you, as the figures are coming a month & a half sooner than expected. My problem is that I generally have to budget things pretty well in order to afford all the stuff I collect, and when they have to be paid for is part of that. I simply wasn't ready to pay for these this early, and now the money's already been taken from my account. So, I hit up Amazon chat to see what can be done, and it turns out that all but one figure can still be cancelled (that one's already entered "late stage shipping".) My money won't be refunded until Monday, which isn't Amazon's fault, but then I thought to ask what could be done in the future to avoid this kind of scenario. Maybe something like requiring my approval before billing on something released early. Their first answer was along the lines of me needing to be more aware of the delivery estimate before ordering. When I repeated that this had an estimate of December 18 when I ordered, the reply was "Oh!" which actually made me laugh as I imagined the representative actually typing out their reaction. Then they doubled down on their previous response, suggesting that I should pay closer attention to delivery estimate changes before placing an order, would that be okay? I just stared at my screen for nearly a full minute, as I slowly boiled inside. I decided to cut my losses & thanked them for cancelling most of the order. Then I decided to cut ties & cancelled all of my other pre-orders since I can't trust delivery dates now, and finally cancelling my Prime membership which was due for renewal on the 4th. I'm not kidding myself, I know I'll sign up again at some point. But DAMN it got me so angry to realize just how little the customer actually matters that they actually suggest that I should somehow be aware of changes before ordering. Oh, and that one figure that's arriving today? You can probably guess... Captain America's Ass.
If you have something you'd like to return, stomp the shit out of it, in the mailer. They wont charge you for a return.
I have a visa gift card with zero money on it I use for preorders on Amazon... If an item comes in stock, I get a notification from Amazon there's a problem with the billing and needs an update to process. At that point I just update it to my debit card for the order if I for sure 100% still want it at that point. I believe an expired cc (or maxed out cc lol!) will do the trick as well.
I used to do that. They started changing the delivery date and sometimes cancelling the order because, they "couldn't get stock".
An update to my Spiderverse display 2 are missing, McFarlane Spidey is getting his legs reset bcuz they're badly deformed, and Superior Spiderman is being customized to be more comic accurate Will be figuring out how to remove the backpack and attach it to Superior Spiderman as well as painting the black back piece and red legs and silver gauntlets. I need to stop playing around and get the last 4 spider females and still on the dense on 6arm
Ok, I’m in for that dark Beast. I wish they would give us an alternate normal head so we could have the original grey beast, but this figure looks great. Dark Beast isn’t the BAF is he?
1. X-Man 2. Morph 3. Weapon X 4. Wild child 5. Jean Grey 6. Sun fire 7. Dark Beast That's a really strong wave, which says to me a wave 2 is all but guaranteed now since Sabretooth and Magneto are missing. Hasbro really nailed it this time.
I do this with both Amazon and BBTS since both companies have a habit of "getting stuff early" and then acting as if not having the money at that time when the preorder weren't for another month and a half is somehow your fault. I use an expired debit card in both cases and then just use an alternate method when paying for the preorder if I don't decide to cancel it. In for Dark Beast since he came over to the core universe. I actually found him to be an interesting villain compared to most.
