Gold Soldier is supposedly a Walmart exclusive in the States but that's still uncomfirmed. @Lazerwave found one for me at Walmart in Canada so it's probably the case for here as well. The main problem I have is that Blizzard almost acts like Overwatch is done for. They seem to treat the merchandise to their own game as an afterthought, which happens in a lot of creative companies. Hasbro did indeed jump on the bandwagon a little late but considering from what I hear it takes a year or two to get the design approval, then to molds, then to release, it makes sense that it came off as poor timing. Really, Overwatch needs some big news.
Blizzard as a whole needs some big news after bowing down to the Chinese government. Talk about your companies rep getting flushed overnight.
At least they aren't Bethesda that needed multiple flushes. I think that if the figure were stocked in the actual swag section of Walmart with Funko and Neca that they would get better exposure. Two of the Walmarts I frequent even have Overwatch rack banners over the computers and laptops nearby, so that would help.
If not this weekend at Blizzcon then probably sometime next month either through leaks or Hasbro's social media as there aren't many shows/cons left this year.
Ah damn. Yeah I didn't have the highest of hopes. Would've been the perfect opportunity for the line's sake, but Hasbro seems more focused on Nerf right now judging by their Instagram...
Gonna need some troop build-worthy figures of these Null Sector guys: https://az571148.vo.msecnd.net/prop...258179720d4cf0a701bf1a54484c62faf87e470b41a25
Hell, I'd love if they went the Gunpla way and made them model kits. I'd prefer Talon to get the action figure treatment.
Hopefully OW2 will bring some much needed customers to this line as I’d love to see it continue in full force. Maybe thats why Hasbro seemed to be holding out on it, because they knew OW2 was on the horizon.
Got Chrome Genji, mostly to see how it stacks up to the figma. Overall it's more solid (one of the chest panels on my figma likes to fall off all the time), and most of the articulation limitations here (namely the ankles, elbows, and kinda the wrists) are also issues on the figma anyway. But man, the lack of paint hurts here more than any of the other figures I've gotten from this line. I can live with most of it, but I'm definitely gonna try and add the yellow lights. Last thing, I wish the sheathes and head wrap (?) were on pegs so they could rotate a bit.
I did the same thing with mine, and I left the soles alone. If the cleats had some kind of recess at the point that could hold the paint & keep it away from other surfaces, sure I'd do it. But as it is, they're just too small & too pointed to keep any significant amount of paint from rubbing or shipping away.
The redesigns will certainly provide more material for Hasbro to work with. Hoping we see wave 3 before the year's end and maybe even wave 4 soon after. Would love to see the redesigns in toy form.
