Holy shit!!! Finally someone who agrees with me on this!!! IMHO the headsculpt is definitely the weak spot of the design, probably because his overall face (specially the eye distance, the "nose" and the mouth) is too broad in comparison to the rest of the head. The upper part of the head is also too small in comparison to the face, proportionally. And the position of the eyes and mouth give it a less agressive appereance than what he had in the movie. The argument that the figure is too small and for that reason the head can't be more accurate is also not true as the SS Ironhide, as we can see here, has a much more accurate headsculpt despite being smaller. So what for me would be the ideal solution would be to give the OSKO Ironhide an interchangeable face like WJ did with Brawl. So those that prefer the SS headsculpt can use it and those who prefer the MPM headsculpt can use it as well. That way everyone happy and nothing to complain about.
OSKO's are better as that way they can scale well with the carbots and with eachother. Which is alone a great reason to be interested in them. They don't harm you in the slightest and lots of people love them because they bring improvements, are cheaper and give us characters in good scales that Hastak wouldn't make. If anything we should be grateful that they even exist instead of complaining about them.
I’d prefer if they downscaled the carbots instead. I just like smaller figures. I don’t need every figure to be huge and take up a lot of space in my small apartment.
I think I'll pass on the kit. I like using his shoulder movement for posing. It just needs some future floor polish...
They barely have any range side to side anyway, and what little range there is, isn’t loose enough to make it fall over in poses. YMMV but mine was just fine. Maybe @hthrun can attest, he has my copy now
Yeah, I like how the articulation is unique, different from the norm... Yeah, his legs are nice and solid.
You guys think Hasbro will reissue MPM-06 with fixed shoulders? Just speculating. I have the DNA Designs 12 kit and fiddy MPM Ironhide in my POL/pre-order, but still having doubts, lol.
I don't mind the shoulders after tightening them. The thing that bugs me is tabbing together his truck mode.
If they do it won't be any time soon. They'll finish the main cast of 07 movie then we'll see if they decide to do dotm versions of OP, Ironhide, etc. I love him as is, but of course the DNA kit helps with stability.
I pulled the trigger on this guy as he was only 50 bucks on big bad toy store. You guys think he's worth whatever issues he has at that price?
It's a good display piece that is very accurate to the movie. But it's not a good figure to fiddle with and pose in varied positions, infact it's very poor for that. I haven't transformed my figure so can't comment on that.
He is worth for me, unless you can wait for the black mamba version, though for the price it is. As balzari said, he is right about being a display fig and not fiddle him anytime, his transformation seems hard becuase of issues on tabbing, especially from bot to alt mode. Though for me in his robot mode, the arm panel tabs in intact and his shoulder isnt loose and fiddling, unless you buy a dna dna for him to make him more functional and better.
Definitely worth it at that price. Use some future on the inner shoulder joints and he'll be much more fun to pose and play with. Really he's good for display though. He's probably the best looking MPM.
