which next to this is one of the saddest things. cross dimension started out so strong. striker manus is still probably the best all around 3p figure i've ever bought and now it's just stopped in it's tracks.

I personally haven't spoken to Spencer since the end of June. He unfriended several people on Facebook, including myself, at some point after that. I don't think Spencer was/is a con man, but I do think he's a bad businessman and I'm disappointed that he's unwilling to take ownership for it. Spencer may have done more to kill Third Party than anything Hasbro could ever do.

I love the unique world that @CZ Hazard and Cassy created with the Unrustables and hate that it's all been poisoned with all the drama. I'm still hoping that you guys can eventually get the comics out and I would support you if you were able to work out a way to continue with a new partner rather than Spencer.

 

I would support more Unrustable Bastards as well if Spence isn't involved. I've picked up all the releases and love them.

 

I think the IP is worth supporting as well. I was looking forward to the full line.

 

What's the difference between a bad businessman and a con man? Intent. That's true for most things in life as well. In fact he seems to be both. If he'd just been a bad businessman, why was he suddenly able to open a cafe? But then apparently the cafe failed as well i.e. he's also a bad businessman.

 

I had the opportunity to talk with Spence at least once. He didn't strike me as malicious. I can't speak to his business acumen, honestly, but that's my two cents for whatever it's worth.

Ultimately, sitting around and criticizing a guy that has apparently more or less been out of the picture for a year or so and has now absconded to a lighthouse in BC won't pick the Bastards up off the ground or help them move forward. If we're lucky, perhaps @CZ Hazard will have more on what we the community/consumer can do to help going forward at some point.

 

Honestly, you guys are all amazing. Right now the concentration is on getting the comic into people's hands. At some point I'll sit down with Cassy Sark and we'll figure out a future for this project. It's going to be slow moving forward and we're not going to want to take a single dollar from people until we're absolutely sure the product can be delivered. You guys have already done more than enough and backed us way more than we could have hoped.

 

I would very much like to see a reliable company make those Tetrajets.

Here's news, those parents who got caught on the college cheating scandals didn't look malicious either. Apparently every bad guy in history so far carries some kind of aura that says "I am a bad guy, please steer clear!!!"

 

There a reason for the personal attack, man? I related a personal experience for the sake of conversation, not to make a specific judgment call as to who Spence is or isn't. It was one conversation, and I specifically couched it as indicating that it's about two cents worth of information.

That said, if you want to discuss it, yes, I've dealt with extremely unpleasant, shifty people in my career as an attorney. Being able to determine whether you're going to represent a person is usually something you have to do within the first conversation you ever have with the individual. Given that I mostly work in business litigation and insurance, two fields where fraud and deceit happens on an almost chronic basis. After roughly a decade of this nonsense, you can usually pick up when someone's being a scumbag.

Yep me too, as they're my design and sculpt. I had the idea and concepts before Spencer even decided to go ahead with them.

I doubt anyone would want to touch these at all given the baggage and ill feelings towards the crowd source. I don't what I'll do with them. Maybe I'll just 3D print one and sit it on my desk and lament the whole thing.

I'm not asking anyone to trust my 2 cents. I'm no authority. If ANYONE has license to say what's what, it's @CZ Hazard and the rest of his crew, and he's not blowing anyone up about anything. If you read my comment as attempting to discredit yours or to cast your statements in a poor light, it honestly was not meant to.

I relayed my experience - that's it. It's something that happened to me. If you had responded that you had caught him punching puppies or setting fire to nuns or something, then it would have just continued a conversation which is all I wanted - to chat. That's what this place is about. I don't come here to be a winner or an authority over anything. I come here to talk and share ideas, concepts, or whatever I've learned. That said, I don't think punching down at Spence at this point does anything but perpetuate more bad air around a product line that's trying to shake it off.

And perhaps I misread, but your comment struck me as pretty condescending. If it wasn't meant to be, then that's my bad. That's why I never said anything negative about CZ and the rest of the crew. Not once. You said you found my comment condescending. Here's the thing, telling people here who went through the ordeal that hei "Spence did not seem malicious IMHO" is what I find grating. Because enough of that, and suddenly we'll be whitewashing the entire thing. Heck, two years from now, Spence will be the hero of the entire episode!!!

 

Okay. Well, as you've pointed out, it's apparently commonly understood that master con men don't present as malicious, so whether I or anyone else got the impression that he wasn't a terrible person is potentially irrelevant. I didn't mean to grate on you or anyone... but again, it was my personal experience. I'm not advocating. If you find my experience to be objectionable... then I'm not sure what to do? Ultimately, it wasn't meant to be a slight. Hell, maybe he IS Lex Luthor and if the guy that deals with insurance fraud all day got fooled then what chance does anyone else have?

I'm confident that there's enough people out there that know the truth, or at least some version of the truth that suits them to the point where I don't think anyone will be making the same mistakes anytime soon though.

Let's focus on what we both agree on, though - the Bastards are awesome and deserve our support. I've always regretted missing out on the Otomo.
