I strongly disagree. I like having both forms for prominent characters.
It's nice getting obscure and overlooked characters, and frankly I'd like later series to get attention too, but I'm not going to pass up a chance to get good Earth versions of the early cast.
If you already have versions you consider "good enough", further versions are not some personal attack on you. Look at it as a way to give your wallet a break until they do stuff that you want. I skipped all of potp (and a lot of TR), and I'm happier for it.

And I strenuously challenge your opinion.
I skipped most of Siege because most of it were early G1 guys I already had toys of.
If you don't like post-86 characters that's your problem, but to demand all lines to be full of 84 characters is just selfish.

If you can't enjoy this franchise without thosr characters there is the MP line, Cyberverse, the comics etc.
There is tons of early G1 for you to enjoy if there is none or little early G1 in Generations.

You're trying to put words in my mouth that I never uttered. I do enjoy post-86 characters: where did I say otherwise? I even said I would like later series addressed in my post, which you quoted; did you not actually read it before quoting it?

You're not "strenuously challenging" my opinion, but a straw man that you set up for yourself.

I wonder if preceptor or like mainframe could work as a modulator, like having both the microscope alt that can also have a base mode. Wasn’t his g1 third alt some sort of base lab tank thingy? Would that work or is it too different. Either way a new preceptor toy would be nice but it would be even cooler if he was retooled into action master man mainframe

I think those 5 are in. And I'm starting to think that we might even get a GI Joe crossover with some of these specifically hound and soundwave

Wouldn’t that make more sense in a separate gI Joe crossover line...? I don’t know if this fits earth rise. Personally I’d only want a earthy ground soundwave tank armored car thingy that looks normal so I can get a blaster outta it and maybe a gun battlemaster megatron but that’s really it. Let some other guys get a turn damnit >:[ atleast guys who haven’t been in siege

I just don't want to see this line turn into all of the characters that they did in Siege, but now with Earth modes. I want to see more like Wheeljack and Cliffjumper. Sunstreak could really use a new figure, Trailbreaker could use a more G1 style update, I was never a fan of the IDW style generations version of him. Those are the characters that really need updates, I don't need another Optimus Prime or and an upsized version of a 2006 mold Starscream.

I liked how The Prime Wars Trilogy mainly focused on the later era of G1 and so far the War For Cybertron has been mostly focused on early G1 with some crossover and new characters blended in. This is the direction that I want to see them go in, I mean Siege has already given us basically the whole season one starting line up of Decepticons, including Reflector. I am hoping that by the end of these two trilogies we have a well rounded collection of G1 figures from all eras and then hopefully when the 80s G1 nostalgia dries up, maybe we can move onto to Beast Wars and start pumping that 90s nostalgia dry.

Didn't they say at NYCC that there were no plans for Sideswipe unless there was a huge want for it?

It's definitely possible I may have missed part of what they said. I'm just extremely skeptical when it comes to information as vague as that.

Cross posting from the other speculation thread but wouldn’t the weaponzier esc gimmick work for action master vehicles? Like taking motorcycle that action master prowl comes with and giving it a bot mode that can either become a bunch of weapons or armor for other figures

Also, would this idea of updating older classics figures and giving them more articulation cost more or less than a new mold, would Er starscream cost less to make than ER grapple or would Er starscream still require a new steel mold. Maybe this idea of updating old molds with more articulation could let the figure have less hollow bits or not having the need for said hollow bits to have panels covering the hollow bits. I am no toy designer so I would have no idea.

I sold off and restarted my collection not long ago, in part because I saw everything Siege did as an improvement.

I will be disappointed if some 84 characters get skipped.

I’m more of a late G1 fan but, come on, we’re around 5 figures away from a complete set as part of this reboot.

This is like complaining that Hasbro released new versions of the various 60s Avengers lineups when we haven’t had a Morbius or 80s Wonder Man in years.

Really hoping that the Second Line's the charm for this obscure fella...

Well, they branded WFC as a reboot. So far, aside from about a 5-10% scale reduction, there’s no clear thing that makes it a reboot.

The comics would have likely been urged to reboot anyway and we don’t have any indication of what the cartoon is or even that it’s a priority.

But it makes some sense if they rebooted so the TFs could serve as the foundation of a more closely integrated Hasbro shared universe.

In a shared universe, Cobra and G.I.Joe should be on the scene within about five minutes of the first TF battle on earth.

Not as nice as the actual G1 Lamborghini, I know people are against it but I really want the siege figures with G1 accurate alt-modes at some point

my guess is starscream and a conehead as mainline retail
    1 conehead as selects
    1 conehead as a battlepack
skywarp, thundercracker and sunstorm as a 3 pack

Why would sunstorm be in that 3 pack? He’s already part of a seeker group. (Well you could probably do bitstream, hotlink and nacelle instead of sun storm) maybe the seeker that comes with thundercracker and skywarp is just one of the purple dudes or maybe we don’t get a thunder cracker or skywarp like we did with potp. Just sayin
I’d prefer a 3 pack of purple seeker dudes
    Or maybe the thundercrackaren’ts
Also which cone head will go where?

    If we’re into predictions...

    I’m going to lean towards:

    Thrust and Ramjet at retail.
    Dirge via Selects.
Slipstream using Starscream tooling with alternate head via Selects. (It works to the benefit of this mold that the chest intakes are breast-ier than Siege.)
    Target exclusive Sunstorm.
Air Warrior in a multipack similar to Skywarp in Siege. Maybe with a weapons rack copied from Astrotrain? That coal car/weapons rack is a Decepticon MM base with Omega Supreme track connectors.

Skywarp in 2021. Thundercracker in late 2021 or 2022 via Selects.

Possible a Cobra Thundercracker sooner if part 3 is heavier on Joes or via a crossover line.

I’m gonna go on another limb and guess that the MM bases and/or weaponizers will be redecoed as Hook, Line, and Sinker. Possibly based more on the TFCC minicons than the comics. And they’ll be counterparts to the Autorollers. Irontread as Hook.

Im in the minority I know but not over keen on the seekers tbh, I know they got done to death as terajets but earth modes so soon? I get screamer but dont think the others will be on the cards so soon......well the cone heads maybe but not Thundercraker and Skywarp.

Wouldnt mind seeing some con baseformers that aint just repaints of ironworks.

The only Earthrise Starscream repaints I want are Sunstorm and Action Master/Shattered Glass Thundercracker.
