No poll or anything. Just curious what everyone thinks the best written cartoon show is in your own personal opinions. Not counting animated movies. Just ongoing series. Could be 1 season or 20. It’s all good.

I'm throwing Gargoyles into the mix as one of the best.

    BoJack Horseman. It’s incredible.

I still need to watch Avatar so my opinion might change though

Avatar, Gargoyles, and Animaniacs spring to mind. It's an adaptation (and an anime, depending on how snobby you are), but Overlord.

Then there are series that have great episodes, or great arcs. Batman and Supermans Animated series (Almost Got 'im and Mxyzpixilated for sure), Transformers Animated, and many other shows.

Well most of the big ones have been mentioned so I’ll throw my remaining unsaid suggestion into the mix:

The Animals of Farthing Wood. It isn’t perfect and some of the show lives or dies on how you feel about Weasel and her laugh. But there’s a weird semi-Shakespearean feel to the whole thing since the show ends on frankly a really tragic note.

Probably helps though that the series was an adaptation of a novel series rather than made up whole cloth for television.

No one mentioned Young Justice? I think that was the most elaborately structured of all the DC cartoons.

Recently watched the short-lived Spawn HBO animated series and I liked it.

Not sure how anyone else feels about it though.

Futurama. Between the small details of the first episode extremely subtly hinting at Nibbler's freezing of Fry (You actually can see his shadow into the table! This blew my mind) as well as the extremely weird fact that the owl's could very well replace rats as vermin (I forgot where, but I remember watching a scientific video about how evolutionary traits could lead to that) among SOO many other things which lead me to think that it is the best written cartoon ever.

I also agree with Young Justice and Justice League. Adding Avengers: Earth's Mightiest heroes into that bunch.
