I originally thought that the omega had led in his head when they showed him off but the light piping was good to the point wear it looked like led’s in a old video where they had a prototype of him. I love this add on though, I think this may be the led kit I will buy because this one looks like it was truly meant for omega, makes me want one for old metroplex lol

Looks nice.  Some of those other light kits have been pushing it for my tastes.  But this is pure making you prestige toy more prestige.

As someone who has done a complete head mod, including blue LED eyes with custom lightpiping, for Omega Supreme, this looks promising, but...

    1) With the lights off, you can see there's no "eyes" with this kit. There should be clear plastic to cover the bare leds when off, but there's none here. So, the eyes will look hollow.

    2) I hope they fixed their battery chamber problem. I have tried some of their LED kits before and all the battery chambers were just a hair too big for the actual battery, so the battery didn't hit the contacts right. This results in lights that sometimes turn on, sometimes doesn't want to turn on, and/or flicker.

    3) Their LEDs are also bare and uncovered, so prepare to be blinded.

Edit: Removed /'s that somehow got in there.

Hey man, how easy is it to pull Omega's head apart and paint that face orange? That's all I really wanna do....

There's 4 mini pegs holding the 2 halves of the head together, and of course, HasTek also uses GLUE on top of these 4 small pegs. So, YMMV depending on how much glue is holding everything together. You WILL also break at least one of those mini pegs (3 of the 4 on mine broke and was surprised 1 survived tbh).

If there's not too much glue, you may be able to pry it apart from the small gap of the helmet over the visor / faceshield. Otherwise, you're gonna need to make a lever to pry it open from the back (which is what I did, cumbersome, but relatively safe).

I made a head opening tutorial a little while ago:
Various mods (of mods), custom stuff

Everyone I talked to said that the pegs for the head are glued and most people broke a few of theirs

Has anyone tried using a Paint Safe Adhesive remover like 3M?

Just two screws but what a hard work to split this helmet, I even broke an internal peg, easy repair but could be worst.

Considering the work involved to pry the head open and paint it correctly, we\'re better off waiting & hoping someone just sells a whole new head with lights in it.

That's what I hope :( , besides, my upgrades are taking too much time so I prefer just to put an entire new head and nothing more.

Dang, this was the one time I’d consider getting a Shockwave kit. It’s annoying how often manufacturers glue their parts. Safety reasons I’m sure, but I break tabs frequently when customizing.

I've seen a few of the "hey it looks fine after splitting it" posts and you can definitely see the front never quite comes back together again. Then again a lot of customizers post pictures of what look like their bots wearing raincoats of lumpy roadkill and think that looks great too...

It's that way BEFORE splitting it apart. That's how some people split their helmets apart by using that as the starting point.

As for other comments regarding the mini tabs, it doesn't matter if they break since there's screws holding the helmet together otherwise.

A whole new head with changable faces (different expressions) and also the option of no-face at all - just the visor lit and both robotic and more human like faces he's had would be more useful I think than expecting people to attack their existing head to get it to bits - especially when it's so easy to make a complete hash of it in the process.

A problem here is you kinda wanna make it so you can get it apart again to change the batteries so gluing the head together isn't an ideal solution - perhaps putting some nail polish on it and holding it together with elastic bands would work - that would be strong enough to hold it together but also a glue bond so weak you could easily break it to change the batteries.

I might consider buying the kit simply for the cannon light though. especially if it looks nice lighting up effects parts.
