I'm just thankful one of my favourite Autobot cars has been done so late in the game.

Sunstreaker, Hound & the Fuso's are just incredible IMO, I can't see them having been possible in this manner with the old lower budget.
Hound has had alot of attention to detail added, multi piece interior seats and all.

We've been blessed to have Jazz & Mirage yet to come, the articulation, paint and accessories will be top-notch.

This is my first time ever having an opened Hound figure (I actually only ever had the Binal Tech one and it was sealed), so I'm pretty stoked!

Kinda glad where we are with articulation and detail right now, so once Jazz, Mirage and dare I hope an eventual Blitzwing hit I am sure they will be spectacular!

In an of its own? No. But the inelegance being shown as product as a whole is troubling for me.

I mean they are charging Soul of Chogokin money for these things and they are in no way perfect or even close to acceptable for me.

But until they re-release Star Saber at least I have a pretty promising beast war line of masterpieces.

I’d say they’re definitely better than SoC stuff on account that they’re extremely articulate, cartoon accurate, and can transform. I’ve seen very few which combine all those features.

Wowee, lots of prickliness these last few pages! :lol

I have to agree that these conversations are entirely avoidable if people don’t wander into threads about official products, to declare that they are “waiting on the KO”. It’s an age-old bone of contention, particularly when the official product hasn’t even made it into collectors’ hands. ;)

I’d say that part of the reason there’s agitation around this subject is that, in a number of cases over the years, there’s been a smug undertone (if not a blatant assertion) that a KO is somehow going to be notably improved in one way or another (arguably, lower price would be the only guarantee as there are QC crapshoots in both official and KO worlds...)

Whether a KO significantly improves upon the original in any way is probably inconsequential to fans of official products at any rate, since they’ll generally have the benefit of experiencing the product a number of months (at least) before a KO sees the light of day, aren’t in the hobby to bemoan this or that feature, and are probably happy to accept the official product regardless of, or even because of, certain design choices.

In my case, Hound’s splitting tires are an interesting choice which helps achieve the clean toon look I love, and of course plastic has longevity on its side - so, for me, there’s no point waiting on a hypothetical KO, let alone spending time hoping/stating that it will give me precisely what I’m asking for. To date, there hasn’t been a single official MP that I would trade for a KO version for any reason.

Again, the simple fact is that threads like this don’t exist to share info about KOs, so people are naturally more likely to react unfavourably when the subject is raised.

Long story short, “waiting on the KO” has been the spark for many a shit storm over the years, and definitely doesn’t get any fresher the more it’s said.

I wholeheartedly agree with others when they say that people are welcome to spend their money however they want (it’s a concession I wish non-collectors would make for me when it comes to my hobby  ), but I do think that KO talk has a more appropriate time and place elsewhere in the forums. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Possibly some waffling on my part! :p  I don’t want anyone to feel bad or unwelcome, but there are definitely times when it doesn’t hurt to read the room before raising certain subjects heheh.

Unfortunately, that’s not how knock off, or counterfeit, products affect pricing of the official versions. The counterfeit market takes profit away from the genuine product line because they can sell for a lower price due to not having the same overhead costs of the genuine brand. While it’s not the only factor that contributes to higher prices of genuine merchandise, making up for the loss due to KOs is one factor of higher prices.

Counterfeit merchandise is a growing problem and does have negative impact on legitimate businesses.

I have concluded my thoughts on the subject and do not wish to continue any further discussion of the matter. I will admit that many of my own comments within the last few days have themselves, at times been a bit passive aggressive and I can only equate that to having had a rough couple of days in my personal life and seeking to relieve my frustration with online confrontation. Which I'm sure many of you will agree, is incredibly moronic on my part. In the future I will avoid showing my bias towards KOs in official threads. All I can do now is apologize to all parties involved and hope that the matter can be dropped and we can move on.

I think that’s ok. There are certain things that just make sense in a forum. There’s a difference between criticism and negativity. Some people don’t know the line and cross it and then get upset when there’s backlash. And then you come in and save the day from people who keep stoking the flames. I’m pretty sure you’ve deleted some of my posts before, which is fine if it’s keeps people civil.

    Hastak is overpriced.

See above, a fairer price would fight ko's better than anything. Fairer price and availability.

Fair is subjective. As the cost at retail have indeed gone up. A simple analogy would be MP WJ anime colors. Less colors, none of the Alitalia fonts plus he has that "hypno lunchbox" of his yet iirc, it costs more than the original MP WJ. Another weird pricing has Inferno costing more that Artfire with the latter being more intricately colored plus a targetmaster to boot.

Takara also has the fallback on, well, we're not forcing you to buy anyway.

Availability? That isn't a real issue as there are 3rd party proxies available. As for 1st party, I heard that HB pulse isn't all that efficient as it should. TakaraMall is for their local market so I'm again forced to go back to 3rd party proxies. The minute concerns of people with disposable income.

Or the opposite. If TT sees that fans are willing to buy expensive unofficial MP style versions of their characters and see the companies(KOs) make a profit then why won't we, the 1st party not also get on the same bandwagon?

Also, I haven't yet come across a KO SoC yet. There doesn't seem to be a market for them or its the mainland Chinese who are simply batshit crazy for G! TFs.

On SoCs, on some figs( Raideen,Daltanious and Daimos), they do a lot of "transforming" and parts swapping. I wonder if TF fans would be willing to accept that?
