    Let’s review...

    Because, reasons.

Considering they work with these materials regularly and the factory also has a good deal of knowledge about the materials they manufacture with they are probably far better at evaluating whether this can work than you are.

And what education background do you have in engineering that makes you a better judge of its ability to exist?

Interesting thing about production space and timing. A factory fills that space as much as they can because they have sunk costs in workers and machinery they have to offset. So they make space where they can to optimize that production space. And then of course,...they aren’t booked indefinitely. So this could literally be planned or booked far enough out where production space isn’t an issue.

I could care less if he is anti-FT, I just want his criticisms to actually be based in something other than BS. “They didn’t think this out”. How would anyone even be able to know how much engineering and R&D even went into this aside from FT themselves? It can’t be made because of the materials? There are huge objects made of plastic. It all depends on materials, thickness, etc. We don’t know at this point if it’s going to be made of their regular materials or new ones. But to make a claim it can’t be made is idiotic.

The more I think about it, the more I would like to get it.
I know transforming the monster will be a nightmare given FT track record.

OK, good rule of thumb is, the toy should be smaller than, say, myself.

I want an Autobot City from the movie. I don't care if they make it metroplex or whatever but I want the city and battle mode. Since this is real I might as well just ask for anything I want :D

It’s cool that this is even happening at all. I can’t wait to see MP collector pics with this guy. Way too big for me and I’m sure too expensive as well but there has to be a market for this and I’m glad someone is making it happen. Looks like a perfect mix of early TT MP and toon.

I was about to agree, but then I thought about how much fun it would be to have a toy bigger than me...

I wonder if FansToys set the height at 3.5 feet (100cm) to troll Takara.

Takara said it wanted to make Unicron 100cm, but the material wouldn't stand up to the weight.

    FansToys: watch me.

I'm surprised FansToys did not point out theirs do not come with, nor need, a stand.

Yup...the master sword alone confirmed that this is based off headmasters. Which I love. Other people may be disappointed but rebirth was 3 epsiodes compared to Headmasters' 35. So it is what it is.

Really hoping that this can pull off the battleship Maximus mode. It would be longer than my entire coffee table

I mean, they may not NEED a stand, but when that guy comes falling backwards onto your floor with the force of a sledge hammer wielded by vin diesel, then you’ll be wishing it came with one :p

Not all FT figures are nightmares. Phoenix and Quakewave are pretty straight forward. Their Dinos are really easy also.

The reduction in height for Unicron was likely necessary due to the thinness of the wings and shell connections. The wings would probably have drooped badly and the shell sections might have sheared off under their own weight during transformation. Maximus is an inherently simple bot, and not much on him would cause such problems. Even Metroplex has more delicate segments.

Unicron is also being made with CHUG plastics which seem to be a lot thinner and flimsy, so they would have to keep the size to weight ratio in check.

Where MP plastics seem to be a lot sturdier.

First, we have no idea what plastics are being used as the thing hasn't been released and Hasbro gave no info on plastics.

Second. You do realize the two companies making both MP and chug stuff are partners, right? it's not like Takara would say "oh you need sturdier plastic for Unicron, get the hell out of here, use your own!" If they needed better plastic, they got it.

I'm all for this guy coming out, wallet be damned, but we should all be aware of the real implications here.
Everyone is fixated on how Fort Max is in robot mode, but he's not the one with the biggest alt-mode. That honor absolutely belongs to Trypticon.
The Titans Return version is approx 30" by 42", meaning if his dimensions are doubled like Maximus he'll have a city footprint of 60" by 84".
And remember the TR version is actually undersized compared to Metroplex. He really should have been a couple inches taller.
This guy barely fits on a standard shelf as it is, and you have to turn him sideways to do it. There's nothing short of an actual table or custom stand that'll contain the Fanstoys version.
I want these guys more than anything, but they just made my half-built display room obsolete.
