So I created the Rant thread in the TF section but considering a lot of people have a lot of things to rant about non-TF related, I figured it might be nice having a place to do it without interfering with anything else. I recognize that we have the life sucks and pet peeves thread, but I wanted to hone in a little more on stress relief and let people basically scream into the void (or whisper, whatever you want really). All I ask is you follow the rules.

    The rules are simple:
    1. Rant about anything. However, your rant can't violate TFW2005 rules so be aware of what they are.
    2. No personal attacks on other board members (take it to the moderators if it's a problem).
    3. While a rant can be brutally honest, the discussion around a rant has to be civil (if someone's pissed off, what's the point of pissing them off even further?). If you disagree with a rant, either say so politely or say nothing at all.
    4. No quoting when you're writing a rant. It could put pressure on a board member unduly. Quoting in response is fine, but don't break rule 3.
    5. Nothing said here is forever, so feel free to edit or delete as you see fit. And you can rant about the same subject as another so don't worry about duplicating.

If you want to rant about TFs or the discussion surrounding them, you can go here: The Official Rant Thread. Otherwise, rant away right here.

Be advised, that the previous rant thread here was closed due to multiple rule violations. Since it's been a while...let's see where this goes.

Just in case though, everyone visit the rules FIRST and think about what you're about to post :)

    Carry on :)

It's raining and it sucks (aaaaaaaaand I gotta do some shopping later)

Also, screw Instagram and their "log in/sign in to view" screen (did a IG account a week ago and it got disabled for violating the Terms of Service... WTH, I did nothing wrong and I was gonna make a account on my Acer Iconia tablet 'cause using IG on a phone sucks)

Temporarily off my arthritis and chronic pain medication until Thursday. No one's fault really as I'm having a vasectomy and I can't have any NSAIDs until after the procedure so that there's no unexpected bleeding, etc. but damn I'm sore, it sucks ass and it's making me cranky as hell. :lol  Small price to pay to make sure the wife and I don't have anymore "precious accidents". Love my kids but three is more than enough.

I just want my mom to let me get my driver’s license. I am tired of her trying to scare me out of it by saying I will get killed driving or that I will kill someone while driving. She also says that EVERYONE texts while driving!

I mean, is EVERYONE texting while driving?! What are the statistics that show EVERY PERSON WHO DRIVES is texting while at the wheel? What are the odds of THAT?! How many people out of almost 350 MILLION in this nation are actually texting and driving? Give me a number here!!!!

In my experience, I see about one driver who texts out of two hundred or so, but I also live near a lot of schools. It only feels like a larger number because it's so jarring when we do see it. Driving is already multitasking so adding something else to it such as texting, gesticulating, putting on make-up, or the in case of one particularity daring and stupid person, making and eating cereal, is pretty stupid. I would also like to add the people who can't talk to someone without looking at them to the list of bad driving habits too.

As long as you recognize that most if not all accidents happen because of unpredictability, the rest will come with practice. Hopefully you can change her mind.

Thanks. I think if she had her way, I would be taking public transportation only. But I do get what she is trying to say. I can also multitask well, since I am doing that at my work already. I have to test speakers, and it is quite a bit of multitasking to say the least. Have to get data logs while running a test, etc. And I agree. I don't think she will changer her mind, but my dad is more willing to let me get driver's lessons. Plus, I am doing my own research. Most accidents are caused by speeding and aggressive driving, not texting. Maybe if I start driving, she will see I can handle it much more easily than she thinks. And I also follow rules, so I would follow the rules of the road no questions asked.

I think she is more afraid of others not following the rules of the road.Of course not everyone follows the rules of the road! What does she expect?! But then again, she sometimes texts and drives, so what does that say? My mom doesn't want me to drive because of 'so many people' texting while driving, and yet she does the same sometimes, only when no one will answer their cellphone but still...

....Existing is really frustrating when you don’t exist in any of the ways you’re “supposed” to exist, none of the people who should be standing in solidarity and sisterhood w/ you actually give a rat’s ass about you, most of your hobbies have social stigmas surrounding them or sunk out of existence a century ago, you get ignored when you try to explain yourself to others, and the only reason you have ANY value to other people is because you can be assigned commodity value to others based on your appearance.

In my experience, most accidents are caused by inexperienced drivers. I've seen low speed accidents because someone drifted into another lane or they realized they were about to miss their turn and swung over into another car. I've seen high speed accidents were someone swings their steering wheel too far and smash into a barrier or speed on a loose rock road and flip over. I will say that in those instances that I just named, everyone was fine. I will also say that the people involved in those accidents have been driving for years and should have known better. Really just pay attention to the drivers on the road (and the road itself) and anticipate that something stupid can happen. It's a lot to take in at first, but eventually you'll get a knack for seeing an accident before it happens.

If someone judges you on what you are rather than who you are, then their opinion is meaningless. I mean, we can't see each other but everyone on this site still knows who's cool and who's annoying. Clearly it's personality over everything else. And let's face it, if you did listen to your critics and become what they wanted you to be, you'd end up as ignorant and boring as them, and that sounds like a sucky existence. Just be you.

I could care less about appearance. If someone doesn't like me because I don't look a certain way, it's their loss. They lose out because they don't see ability or personality over appearance. It's like saying a person is only useful for their appearance. Once they show even a wrinkle, they are tossed out. Nope. People who see ability and/or personality over appearance are the real winners. Just put yourself out there with your likes, dislikes, etc., and you will find people who see your for your personality and abilities.

Can I rant about how you can't make your likes private on twitter? Most my likes revolve around men kissing each other. I don't want people to see I like that shit  .

Okay, I don't think my driving rant is over. I want someone to CONFIRM that driving is MORE dangerous than in the 60s and 70s WITH NUMBERS! I need FACTS AND NUMBERS here! Or at least sites that can point out those facts and numbers.

Dude, how old are you? You joined in 2007. You have to be 11 to join. Shouldn't you be over 18 by now? If you are over 18 go and get your license, what do you need mommy for?

I know, but my mom still says I shouldn't drive. I can't help but feel she is trying to hold me back from that because she compares today's drivers to when she was growing up. I never got to even take the road test in high school. I did take the classroom portion of drivers ed, but never got on the road. I mean, sure I get things change over time, but OF COURSE drivers are not going to act the same as when she was driving! She would probably say the same thing if I wanted to drive back then.

You are not making any sense. You say you know you are a grown man who is 28 years old who has already taken a drivers ed course. You are eligible to take a road test. Go do it. I'm so freaking confused. Just go get your license and prove to her you can drive if you are so certain. Go do it. Who cares what she wants, you are 28.

Sorry if I did not make sense. My mom won't support it is what I am saying. I just want her support for it, even fi I do it myself.
