I was hoping the bots like hound and sideswipe would have been between Hasbro legends and deluxe sizes. My Mechanic studio sideswipe is only fractionally taller than my mechanic studio Gears. The scale of their “mini bots” matches the Hasbro legends minibots perfectly.

 

MS19 Flame Commander Rodimus Prime Hot Rod

Man, this guy looks better than the masterpiece offerings.

 

Looks nice. Is this a Hot Rod and Rodimus combo?

 

The design looks like a Rodimus to based on the design of the face and inclusion of a matrix. The car part does separate from the trailer, so I guess you could use it as a Hot Rot.

Are there many differences between the car modes of the g1 toys/cartoon?

 

That looks good. From what I can tell from the car mode picture, its lower legs are red like the original toy, but are greyish in bot mode with the trailer. How does that work?

 

It shows while the first attempt at Rodimus Prime/Hotrod is good. A second iteration from the masterpiece line or 3rd party offering in masterpiece form can be so much better.

I hope we see some updates on Astrotrain soon. I'm more excited for him than I am for Rodimus.

 

I don’t think their Astrotrain is branded as Mechanic Studios... it does look like an original design, though. And a good one at that.

it's an MFT bot that os it posted and openly talked about on the MFT weibo page by MFT. lets just agree to call a spade a spade here.

 

No worries, no offence taken. I’m just trying to keep this thread as a nice space to discuss MFT’s original designs. Most of those designs are Mechanic Studio. Some of them are not though. It’s all good.

MS26 Iron Sky (astrotrain)
I wasn’t sure about posting this toy to the thread as I wasn’t sure this was a toy by mechanic studio as it didn’t care the cute logo. I’m still uncertain, but it does look like the same aesthetic.

I see mechanic studio called Mechanic Toys in some places online.

 

MC01 Mozart (Mohawk)
This is very different than the G1 aesthetic. I also notice the word “Studio” is missing from their logo. What does it all mean?

 

MFT has several different "studios" monickers that they produce under; Mechanic Studios, Vecma, etc. All of these names seem to get thrown around and changed up (especially on their weibo), without any real rhyme or reason.

It's my understanding that the figures modeled "MS##" are Mechanic Studios products. Not sure about the non-TF toys.

 

Here’s checklist or release schedule of Mechanic toys. It looks like they are moving in new directions. I hope they stick with the g1 transformers. Oddly enough thei Mozart/Mohawk figure doesn’t not show up here.

 

I don't understand: what's the point of this thread when there's already an MFT thread? And in addition, there are threads for each individual bot MFT makes. So this thread means triple coverage for any of the figures included here.

 

I think it’s worth discussing and differentiating the original designs of a company from the KO production they are known for. You are welcome to disagree with the premise of this thread or disregard it entirely.

If someone started a thread specifically for a subline of a company it does have merit to exist and focus discourse. For example imagine a thread about Maketoys’ Cross Dimensions line. Or a thread about Fantoys’ headmasters.

This is not a thread about Mech Fans Toys in general, it’s about Mechanic Studio specifically.

Although I might be interested in seeing how discussion might play out regarding the relationships between Mechanic Studio to Spike Art / Hot Soldiers / Mech Planet / Iron Trans / Mechanic Toys.

 

Where does one track down the Soul Stone figure? Are they up for Pre-Order anywhere?

 

I get that but my problem is I like to keep up to date on these figures. Originally that meant following the mft thread. Then people decided that each figure deserves its own thread so now I follow those along with the main mft thread. Throw in this thread and that's one more I need to follow to keep up to date. I get that this thread is specifically for the mechanic studio figures but, given that each of them is already covered in two other places, I really don't see why this conversation couldn't have taken place in the main mft thread.

The other problem is it gets confusing sometimes. Someone will ask something and it's like, "didn't you see the post yesterday explaining all about it? Let me find... where the heck is it?... oh wait, that was in the other thread that inexplicably exists for this exact same product." Just feels chaotic. But I dunno, maybe that's just me and it's not a big deal for anybody else.

 

I don't think we've seen anything about this one yet, have we? I don't see it for preorder anywhere. Show-Z would usually have it up by now it if was really coming out in March but nothing there.
