Thats a terrible analogy. The two companies are making the same product. It’s more like being so loyal to the company that produces the artificial coloring for Coca-Cola that you spend a bunch of time criticizing the company that provides the high fructose corn syrup. I.e., fucking bananas.

I was referring to Hasbro and Takara.

 

If anyone makes an upgrade set for these... I hope they include new legs for the bots such that they are ratcheted and can bear the weight of a weaponized Seacon when they are in arm mode.

 

I'm only interested in the characters and combining gimmick, but those combiner hands are gonna need to be awfully strong to hold up whichever one is the targetmaster without falling out. Heck, the knee joints are gonna need to be extra strong to hold up an entire deluxe. Actually, can we just get a stand to help hold the gun? That's what the G1 version came with. Does this version come with a stand that I don't know about?

Also, who wants to be the one to display theirs in a fish tank?

(Please don't actually leave a $250+ combiner in a fish tank. Knight Morpher Cyclops was enough we don't need to do that again.)

Not even close to being true. And saying otherwise has you ignoring the fact Hasbro says that the line is licensed on their current packaging.

For beginners this states that TOMY has sole ownership of the Transformers franchise: Agreement with TOMY Comapny, Ltd.

It states that Hasbro has life-long licensing rights, not co-ownership. The only thing they own are specific molds used for past G1 toys.

Other than that? No. TOMY is the sole owner of the franchise.

 

That’s not what these documents say though. The underlying property is licensed from Takara/Tomy to Hasbro (via an amended version of the original license), but all of the proceeds of that license, including the media and the copyright, is essentially jointly owned. At this stage, the parties’ respective rights are so intertwined that even if the license from Takara/Tomy to Hasbro were terminated, it would be very difficult or even impossible for Takara/Tomy to proceed without Hasbro (especially outside Japan).

 

Enter the ironic fact that he hates the company who created the toys that helped create the Transformers franchise. And doubling down on that irony is that TOMY (which owns Takara) owns the franchise.

But I also visited TakaraTomy’s main office a few years ago. They are super polite to the point I am going to return once my business is up and running.
