I'm talking about this prototype of a figure in comparison to the comic art, clearly. My critiques were not meant as an attack to anyone, there's no need to be rude.

The panels are there in the art, yes, but they're much smaller and integrated into the forearm. As for the head, it just looks proportionately off to me. It may be the visor not being very expressive, it may be the lack of a collar making his head look like it's on a stalk somewhat. It's a valiant effort, as I've said I'm a massive fan of @RVDA's work. I just wouldn't call it a redefinement of comic accuracy. And that's fine, these are just my own impressions.

As I've said, I'll still probably pick him up. He's my favourite character in the whole canon after all. But when I was told he would be perfect, that's what I expected.

X2 has had a page-perfect Rewind proto done for a few years now but they'd rather fart around making tiny wee fiddly men than bother putting him into production.

It looks good, but have just never been a fan of the character, going back to G1. I mainly see this and think "hopefully this means Nautica is now one position closer to being made, as MMC works through their IDW list".

BM Thrust was considered as one of the retools for this yeah, as well as Mesothulas. Neither ended up happening though.

I'm not insulted or anything. If anything I agree with you. One of the things that got changed in the transition from one designer to the next. I supplied the base frame, and another guy took it over. And that's where stuff like this happened.

For reference, this is what my frame looked like:

I'm in! This will be my first IDW Autobot I pick up. For some reason most of the cast has never been overly appealing to me.

THANK YOU, MMC, for giving us the IDW figures we've always wanted.

The dream of a complete Lost Light crew in plastic form is one step closer!

This is the only new reveal I’m excited about this weekend. Not perfect, but certainly good enough. Love this design.

Thank you for this! The lack of chest hinges and the original head look so much better, and much closer to what I was expecting. I didn't expect my qualms to be something on your end, given how fantastic Supermax looked! And he still looks like a good figure regardless of the changes. I'm just going to be particularly anal about any inaccuracies, because he's my boy! :D

Yeah, but the orignal design also wouldn't really have worked as a functional toy, or had things that would needlessly make the tooling process more expensive/difficult. I was still pretty green when I made him (June 2017) , and the refined design fixed a lot of those issues. Still, there are some things I wished the other designer had done differently (like the lower arms), even if I understand why they did that like this.

But yeah, I'm definitely going to poke someone about seeing if we can change the face sculpt. :)

I hope he and the inevitable Rewind come with interchangable visor expressions. But even if not, what a gorgeous figure, I can’t wait to see him in colour. MMC is revealing so many prettybots now.

    Well, and Prototype Azalea ;)

    Looks really nice!

PS I'm still not quite over Supermax not making it...that was one of the best looking designs and biggest potential awesomeness in a very long time :(
