Wasn't expecting a book focusing on not only the G1 PRedacons but also the BW Predacons...Can't help but wonder if that's of what may come for 2021 for a certain era's 25th anniversary on it? Otherwise why even bother including the BW Preds in the first place? Also Deathsaurus in Cliffjumper's arc's got my interest since we could see a potential first look into a WFC Deathsaurus.
If we could get collections of all the club/Botcon fiction I would be a very happy nerd. EDIT: Not as happy as I'd be if they finished UK Classics. God that burns.
Still waiting for the rest of TFUK and a G2 TPB. I'd also love to see trades of the Botcon comics, myself. If they could release that and a trade of all the minicomics and promotional comics Hasbro has put out over the years, I'd be very happy.
Damn it, I read the comments first by accident so I got all excited because I thought it was a book about these Predacons. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm a dumbass that missed a part of the text. I'd like to change my previous statement to YES!
We used to live in a world where we got hyped by the solicititations and then sometimes felt disappointed/cheated after the actual issues came out. Now with IDW 2.0, the solicitations themselves feel bland -- we will be at issue 17 and the change still doesn't happen, the "crack under their feet" still holds?
Yeah. I’m a huge proponent of this book, but it’s definitely the case that it’s been an extremely extrapolated plot, and the “big change” (or whatever you want to call it) has been drawn out. I stand by what I said around issue 11 or 12: the war really needs to have broken out fully by midyear 2020 (which would be around issue 19 or 20, I think) or even I will begin to lose patience.
It's hard to say. I have a theory the story started out as something very different (Megatron being a dragon the biggest hint of that) but was changed and it just became a mess. To the author's credit, they did try to answer a lot of the lingering questions in the aftermath of the story's release. But when the "Contentious Continuity" section of your TFWiki entry is longer than the synopsis, you've got problems.
Imagine a writer watching Beast Wars for reference and then completely going against everything that was said and done in the show to create a backstory. Then he wonders why actual fans took offence at all the changes he made to the story and characters that everybody knows so well. It’s just seriously bad fan-fiction quality from a writer who clearly puts their ego first to make their own dirty mark upon a popular series as opposed to paying attention, reigning in their vision to make things fit in with existing storylines or generally adhering to fan expectations. But still, the Wings of Honor series does its own thing as well, going against established continuity, handwaving differences away by saying its like the continuity you know but is it’s own separate timeline/universe.
That cover for issue 17 is pretty damn cool. Interesting solicitation though. The previous ones made it seem like Cybertron was in chaos. So what is the decision they’re talking about? Putting on a fusion canon and going to war? Or...calling off the riots? My past complaints about the pacing and characters aside, I’m legit interested to see how and why the war actually starts.
