like, they could have at least prototyped overlord in solid red right? sure it would still look out of place, but at least it would be less out of place then Devastator stealing a pair of overalls out of Mario's luggage on his way to the hotel.

He looks like he transforms into something closer to the EZ Overload from way back when, which had only two arms and legs along with the "spine" piece.

The thing is, I could see how the EZ bot mode could be a way of re-interpreting the four arms as two big arms and some wide shoulders.

I think this thing is more than just mistransformed. I hope not but i can't imagine mistransformation is the reason it looks so bad. I mean the head is just plopped on top instead of protruding from the center.

I'd be happy either way, and maybe it is only two. But I swear the grey pieces I mentioned are the two smaller arms of the four Overload has in the biped concept.
We'll find out soon enough, I suppose.

Well.. it does prove one thing: It was Takara's designers who did the majority of the Studio Series toys. FACT. Hasbro guys just can't do their one simple job correct. They have been consistently butchering the transformation of their products at major toy shows for years. Nothing ever changes does it? Lmao.
Note to Hasbro: TRANSFORM YOUR OWN FUCKING PRODUCTS PROPERLY. OKAY?

I know it's supposed to be a prototype, but it looks like a fucking gorilla.

It'll be interesting to see how those work. Could just be they fold out to form the shoulder pads and aren't articulated.

That's the goal, no? He's not supposed to stand upright.

The thing that makes me want to bash my head against concrete is that people talk like this is a NEW AND HORRIBLE THING. Oh no, a toy is mistransformed at a convention! Oh no, it NEVER happens, ever ever ever! At some point any legitimate complaint, when spoken over and over, and over and over, and over ad naseum just becomes toxic fan behavior.

Same. I was very excited to see how they'd do Overload. As much as I like seeing even this prototyped Devastator I really wanna see Overload by himself. The Constructicons have all been gems of the Studio Series line thus far.

As I said in my comment several pages ago, a mistransformed Transformers figure at a convention isn’t a surprise at all. It happens all of the time. However, in all the times that I’ve seen mistransformed figures at conventions, this has to be the most egregious. This is Hasbro’s biggest release in the Studio Series line and they just completely half ass the display.

I’m not sure why you’re getting upset. People simply want a figure that they’re looking at for the first time (I realize, technically, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen SS Devastator but this is much more representative of what the final product will look like than the gray prototype that was revealed last year) to be properly transformed and posed so they can see what to expect when it’s released and figure out if it’s worth their money or not.

I'm not upset as I am just...mind fucked. I get it but at some point you just have to bite the bullet and know that this is just something that's going to happen. The way people treat this looks like it's the first time it's ever happened and I just don't get that at all. Do people not, I dunno, visualize things? Do people not stop for a moment to think about the image they see before posting a complaint about it? Do people do anything that resembles critical thinking? If this was a one off issue then I get it. But it happens every convention. It's happened for years. Decades. Why even care at this point? It's never going to change.
