I always pictured the T1000 as like a really high res live action cartoon character. The sampling could be to get the correct colors. If it was capable of simulating skin it you would think it would be able to simulate more than just knives and stabbing weapons.

I was listening to this earlier today. It’s creepy, that “brrmmm... brrmmm...” sound. It’s repetitive, methodical and oppressive sounding. And it just keeps going underneath the rest of the music. It’s like the embodiment of what the terminators are all about- it sounds like a machine that’s just going & it’s never going to stop. Love this soundtrack. :D

"Best sequel since T2" is the absolute best they could ever hope for. Here's hoping it's actually true.

No, the only thing I really remember about Genisys was James Cameron shilling for it.

No,.....having a R rating for a movie is really NOTHING anymore cause teenagers watch them anyway even if there not old enough. It really HAS to be about the STORY not a rating to save anything. If the story is there and the movie keeps an audience till the end as well reviewers then its a successful run. I watch movies enough to know and read about movies that are either good or bad.

Plenty do, sure, but still box office wise PG-13 has always done better on average.

Ok, so I saw DF here in the UK a few hours ago.

It is by far a better movie than any other sequel we've had for Terminator post-T2.

As far as action goes, it probably has more crammed in than T2 in all, and most of it is well done (the CGI is good - fantastic in some places, but certainly not flawless), but I found the plane sequence (as seen in the trailers) to be a bit too much. Everything before and after that felt very organic for OG Terminator, but the stuff with the plane was too "action movie" for me personally.

I feel like it's worth pointing out that the Rev-9 also provides a decent dash of horror back to the franchise. The way the endo unnaturally picks itself up, and how it scrambles on walls/ceilings in places has a genuine creep factor (the future scene with them could be something very promising, if they go there again too). I also enjoyed how this Terminator really was focussed 100% on its target, to the point it will ignore someone shooting at it from 3ft away, and take the damage if it means it can almost reach her instead, as long as she's close enough - that's something that feels a lot more convincing for a killer robot with an objective! The symbiosis for the liquid and endo was cool too; with the liquid part independently blocking shots to protect the endo, or forming claws/blades over the regular arms in order to cling to walls better ect.

Returning character wise, Sarah was excellent, and what probably elevated the movie to around an 8 for me. Carl was also very good - Arnie wasn't in it much, but it felt like the most organic portayal of a T800 since T2 (ironic, since this one is a "conscious" killing machine for a change). If this is Arnold's final time as the T800, I think his final line/scene will be one to pull heartstrings a little in the coming years.

On the new character front, Grace was fantastic! She played her part very well, feeling like a real character and bringing something interesting and new with the "hybrid" element - the way she can barely go toe to toe with the Rev-9, but needs constant upkeep to keep her going is one of the best things they've added to the franchise since the T1000.

Dani, the new "saviour", is fine too. She comes across as believable enough, and serves her purpose...the only critique of her is that everyone else was just that bit better.

Overall, I really did enjoy watching it. As a sci-fi action movie, it was very entertaining and stands as worthy enough to be part of the franchise. It definitely isn't on par with the first two movies, but doesn't fall a million miles short (which is a hell of a compliment next to two of the best movies ever made).

To me it feels VERY much like Fury Road; lots of breakneck action and some excellent character work. Both movies were a fun ride to me, but could have done with a bit more substance in the "down times" between the flashes and bangs.

    8/10

Why do all of the reactions sound so similar?

Considering how skeptical you sounded earlier in the thread, this is encouraging!

I’ll definitely check this out once it drops on digital.

And Cameron said in a recent interview that he had ideas for two more films(if the movie makes enough money). I believe one idea was to explore the relationship between humanity and AI more.

...At this point I'm hesitant to seeing another "new" Terminator film beyond re-watching the original film , T2 and the TV series which was "far" better executed than the 3 sequels that followed T2.

Really? The TV series had the same problems the sequels had, just more of it.

I think it's because Dark Fate takes cues from the original movie and advances the story, while bringing back original cast members in supporting roles decades later.

Someone made the comparison, and critics obviously liked the sound of it, is what I'm guessing?

Yeah, I was very skeptical, but did try to stay optimistic until I'd had a chance to actually see the finished product. Glad I gave it a chance!

I'd say you probably won't regret seeing it. Even if you don't like a couple of the bold chances they took as a Terminator movie, it's still a very fun, fast paced sci-fi action movie in its own right!

If Cameron wants to write any sequels to this, exploring more of the nightmare future with Rev-9's ripping people apart with 6 blade-tentacle arms (imagine a terminator mixed with those fast moving tentacled aliens from Edge of Tomorrow), I'd be right up for it! Considering how well the augmented human was done too, I could see some great potential for looking at the relationship between human and AI/machines.

I'm not going to lie and say this is as good as T1 or T2, because it isn't (not to me, but I have seen a couple of people say it's as exciting as T2). I would say it's better than the last 3 sequels and TV series though (which I did enjoy too), and is probably as good as a sequel to T2 is ever likely to be, to be honest. There aren't a lot of ways to continue on from T2 organically, but this one directly deals with the repercussions of that movie, and opens up potential for something fresh in future - and hopefully Cameron knows exactly how to make the most of that with his sequel ideas!

So someone from UK seen it and said the cgi and action is good, while some reviewers say that the cgi and action is subpar. By the trailers the cgi looks like shit to me especially cgi Gabriel Luna.
    Who to believe?!

The movie barely rests between action scenes, and on the whole, they're very well done, so I don't know how it's particularly subpar?

The CGI has its moments. There's plenty of carnage (especially Rev-9 mutating, taking damage & repairing itself), so there is a lot of CGI going on there...some of it is excellent, and sometimes it looks a little off. It's just a matter of whether you can tolerate 0.3 seconds of ropey CGI Luna getting hit by something a few times?
