I think there's a market for a new Hasui inspired 3rd party MP Bee and then retooling it for a partner MP Cliffjumper. Take that original MP-21 mold and just fix it for starters, then re-shell it for CJ. I still prefer the Hasui inspired designs over these too toon ones we're getting now.

Toro's ok, but he still feels like a placeholder. It's not so much the size of the backpack that bothers me about him as it is the alt mode windshield composing the shoulders and top of chest. First it just doesn't look right, all of that *should* be solid red, and second it kind of kills the faux windows and car top gimmick on his chest. Faux parts in bot mode are ok with me as long as you hide the original part it's replacing.

I'm still kind of disappointed TakaraTomy didn't retool/reshell the original MP Bee as an MP Cliffjumper. Recoloring MP-21 in red wasn't what I had in mind. Yeah, the vehicle mode might have been somewhat imaginative to make a reshell work, but I would have been perfectly ok with it. So it's a bummer when I hear that they may do just that for their MP CJ. The new MP Bee looks ok, but would push me towards buying/replacing the Ark crew again. I'm not doing that.

 

Final nail in the coffin for me. I didn’t dig the look of MP-45 from the beginning. The cream-pie face and feet leading the list of negatives. Now seeing that he is way too tall compared to the rest of my master-mini bots... no thanks.

 

I had never planned on getting the new Bee anyways, as he is quite hideous.

 

I think the bot size for MP-21 and most currently available minibots is fine, I always wanted the alt modes to make more sense for the likes of Warpath, Huffer, Pipes and Powerglide.

I think XTB has made the most succesful MP minibots to date so I’d love for them to continue with a G2 Hubcap (I am shaking I want this so bad!) and another bunch of repaints like the South American variations and the Gobots minibot versions of Warpath and others. We already got Powerglide in black and white and blue Cosmos.

Shouldn’t it be easy for the AoD Powerglide KO makers to release him in Cobra blue and Gobots white as well?

 

He's here. One of the pegs used to secure his sled together was bent out of shape and rendered unusable, but it's not that big a deal. That's what I get for buying Vintage from TFSource anyway.

 

Try heating it with a hairdryer. It should help with the stress marks and make it soft enough to bend back in place.

The hood panel on Toro's left leg seems to have problems. Not only is it seemingly miscolored but it also isn't molded to collapse properly. I think I recall seeing this exact same problem in some online reviews, does anybody else have experience with this?

 

Hey everyone! I'm sorry for the necro-bumping, but now that MP-45 is out in the world, I wanted to ask if anyone knows how Toro scales to him? I have Ace and Hiccups but I'm sort of starting to prefer Toro and Coprimozzo for how they're both closer to the toy and the toon (mostly in the chest, since Ace/Hiccups skew too far towards vehicle accuracy) - however, I saw a few posts back that MP-45 might be too tall to scale with the current round of 3P Minibots? Please don't go out of your way, but if anyone has a picture of their Toro hanging out with Bumblebee 2 I'd be super curious to see how they look together.

 

Toro is really the only odd Minibot out in the lineup if you're comparing against MP-45. He's scaled to match MP-21 exactly. But 45 is about half a head taller or so. All the other guys across the various 3Ps are still taller than either 'Bee, so even if it doesn't match the holy scale chart exactly, it should be close enough.

 

Pretty much what's said above, although Grump is about the same height as MP-45. It's the new Takara figure that's the odd one out though, as it goes against the scale they themselves set. I have him slightly crouched to better mask the difference, but he's definitely about a half a head 'too tall'.

I gotta wonder if this is a sign for how TT is gonna scale things going forward if they go ahead with other Minibots, but I like Toro enough that I might just buy him anyway and only keep him next to MP-21. Appreciate the advice!

 

Yep. Toro can stay with MP-21. I like how much they were able to get the true-to-life Porsche alt-mode to resemble the animation model's robot mode, considering how far apart the two designs are.

 

There is a fan mod to give him shorter legs. You do some kind of folding with the double knee joint I think. it would probably bring him down to normal mini-bot height. I'm not a fan of that look personally, but some prefer it:

Can anyone tell me what size the screw is that keeps Toro's head together? I'd like to swap out to the toy-face, but my smallest Philips screwdriver (3/32") is too large.

And by the way; I'd like to put out a huge 'thank you' to XTB customer service. My Toro's had a broken left leg since last June. I tried to get it fixed via TCP, they shipped a replacement leg but it was the wrong side. I found XTB's CS email beginning of this month, and in less than two hours of back n' fourth emails they shipped me an entire left leg for $5.00 total. It just arrived and installed, now he's like new again.

 

I decided to pull the trigger on Hubcap...great little figure. Good articulation, alt mode is superb, Bot mode is excellent and soooo many weapons!!! He was a little pricey for what you get but still, I'm happy to have him.
Question, do the head lights actually pop up? They look like they would.
