I'm not sure how to tell you this, but your feeling is wrong. You should absolutely be excited about sneak peeks of plastic toys!  But yeah, I get that. Every now and then I step back and think, "What the hell am I doing pouring this much money into freaking toys at my age?!" I get over it pretty quickly, though. Helps that my wife is very understanding and indulges me. I think I caught a hint of a tone in her voice when I mentioned ordering a photo tent to take pictures of my toys (yeah, I'm pretty far gone at this point) but she's still very supportive.

We moved to having personal budgets a couple years ago, so each month we both get money that we can spend on whatever the heck we want, no questions asked. So I buy my plastic crack, and he buys chickens and geese and whatever... And we can just roll our eyes at each other :p

I had this thought yesterday after spending $600 on two figures. Like, what am I doing? Why do I want plastic robots this much? They’re addictive somehow.

I think of collecting Tf and other collectibles as taking drugs/smoking. Once you start, it's hard to stop

We don't need that kind of negativity here.

    For the record…

I have NO problem justifying $100 spent on TE Prime and passing on The TransExploder MP-44. :p

anyone put the toon head on the toy body yet for crackup? interested to see how that might look given the body color white is slightly better (IMO) on the toy inspired version.

Haha, I'm here exactly. Already have Magic Square and TE, but just convincing myself not to get MP44, ironically I just held shift too long writing MP44 and it became MP$$ which is pretty accurate

no we don't. this will look awesome on display once we all complete this.

Hopefully the combined mode will not be exactly like zeta where the leader gets shoved into the cavity at the back.

It started with 'Why don't you play with My Little Pony'? Answer: 'Because they're ugly horrible lumps of plastic and don't turn into a jet'. It gradually turned into 'why aren't you wearing make-up?' Answer: 'Because I hate the smell and it feels awful!'. Eventually it became 'why do you play video games?'. Answer: 'Because I like them, now go away'. Then it became 'Why am I not a grandmother yet?' Answer: 'Because I'm too busy playing video games!' And now, as a grown-ass woman myself, the answer to the question 'why are you spending so much money on toys?' has become 'because I'm a veteran IT-professional with way more money than sense, so shut up and let me play with my plastic crack!'

Not to give the wrong impression. I love my mum, really, but sometimes I want to throw something at her.

    Girl toys suck so much.

But I love makeup! When I get the motivation to actually put in the effort.

Transformers and Legos were always my thing growing up. Still are!

This so much! I mean, Barbie dolls can't even stand on their own. And a MLP's articulation is basically 'neck'. Sure, some of the old 80's Transformers were simple and boxy, but at least they could stand, move a bit and turn into something completely different. I think I never forgave my mum for not buying me Megatron because 'guns are bad, mkay?'. At least I did get a Galvatron for my birthday later. Had a massive crush on him back in the day... and yeah, I know how stupid that sounds.

All power to you, brother! It's important to stay young at heart.

... now if only X-Transbots would give us Gravestone before I am in need of one myself, that'd be great. :)

Yup, separate budgets are the way to go. She's putting hers into useful practical stuff for the most part while almost 100% of mine goes into toys. Sometimes toys for her (she's into My Hero Academia so I've been buying her their figures as they come out) but almost always toys and the occasionally video game.

    ¿Que que?
