Mixy in person is a bit disappointing. You can still fiddle the ROTF one into a shape more like his concept art. Doesn't seem like you can do that here. I know with three modes one mode will eventually suffer as that seems to be the limitation but it's sad to see that it's the not mode that suffers.

Oh well. I'm invested in Devastator and that's how my team is gonna spend most of it's time anyways.

Yup, I still vastly prefer the original RotF Mixmaster as a stand-alone toy.

But this guy still looks decent, at least. And here, it's all about the big picture so I won't complain too much.

It’s 2019, why is it so hard to get clear pictures?

Because it's 2019, and people are more concerned about being "first" for the sake of worthless cheap internet karma, rather than doing things "well".

Mixmaster looks amazing, closer to the CGI than the ROTF one, and seems like he won't be a nightmare to transform.. The only real bummer would be the backpack, but then again, it has a purpose in mind, so I give that a pass

He said concept art, which the original toy is pretty much dead accurate to, with the exception of the intact cab kibble, and the colours (the toy has the film's dark colourscheme, while the concept art was white and teal).

His CGI in the film proper is virtually indestinguishable, a "hi-then-bye" appearance, shrouded in sand clouds. He's more visually distinct in the video games, where the original toy isn't particularly dissimilar from either, other than intended posture. Major difference just seems to be that the legs are stumpier in that version. So yes, this toy is more accurate in that regard. Also the gas tanks sticking straight off his back, rather than along his flanks.

So upon closer inspection it looks like the front part of the cab is able to come off:

I think for the final combined mode, that piece will end up on Devastator's back for better movie/concept art accuracy as his "grill hunchback." ROTF_Devastator_and_components_concept_art (1).jpg
I can accept this as a compromise for the combined mode, but I hope, like Scrapmetal and Hightower, this partsforming isn't strictly needed. I would probably have to find a way to mod it myself to keep it self contained. Even with the possible partsforming and the handlebar 'stache he's rocking, this is still marvelous considering he has to be arguably one of the most complicated parts of Devastator, as well as an actual vehicle and robot.

one theory i have to the extra devy bits is that the currenty unknown ss-48 could be an exclusive yellow repaint of rampage that includes the extra bits

Theres probably going to be a constructicon repaint or repaints later but SS-48 is likely the Universal Studios Exclusive Megatron

Wait what? Let me double check SS listings. If 48 is Skipjack/Steamhammer then I'll be happy.

Well we know of Scavenger -> Demolishor and Rampage -> Skipjack/Steamhammer (yes I know the yellow dozer isn't Steamhammer but I'm gonna call him that) while Scrapmetal is probably going to be retooled intro Trench unless Trench is his own mold

EDIT: lonewolf96 is probably right, much like how the last exclusive Megs was an odd number out. Now we gotta get a redeco of movie 1 Megs!

I'd noticed the detaching cab myself, but I didn't make the connection until you pointed it out. While it does increase movie accuracy in that regard, it's also another spare piece that could potentially be lost. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this is supposed to work.

So I think it is most important to compare the sculpt to the actual on screen model, which differs quite a bit from the art renders. See below for a comparison courtesy of @ObakaChanTachi from the Movieverse Thread:

Looks like the prototype sculpt was based on the art render while the final sculpt was based on the movie. It really gets very close!
