It didnt help that toy has ALOT of joints and transformation steps and movement for what is a surprisingly basic transformation alot of those joints could have been eliminated to give useful arm articulation

Man that alt-mode looks worse than I remember. Not that I'm complaining, I wouldn't even care if Shockwave transformed into nothing since he didn't in the film!

 

I'm tempted to buy both AND a couch for them to sit on all because of him.

It does. The torso seems to be largely original engineering.

 

As is so often the case it looks so much better in person. I definitely might consider picking him up.

 

This Shockwave looks like a high end collectable with that paint job. He's going to look awesome next to Revoltech DOTM Optimus Prime when I get him.

 

Is it just me or does this figure look pretty small for a Leader class (compared to those hands - but maybe he just has giant hands...)?
I'm not sure anymore if this is an upscaled retool. Maybe they justify the Leader class price point with the three extra mini figs.

 

It's no longer a maybe at this point, but a certainty. Hasbro's modern Leader class design philosophy is dictated by plastic mass, not the size of the figure like in the old days of ROTF.

In other words, the only *true* Leaders in SS are Grimlock, Jetfire, and Scavenger. Every other Leader besides those two could pretty much be regrouped into the "Voyager with more plastic" Class, Shockwave included.

 

That's not neccessarily a bad thing. It opens up their possibilities. And things like complexity and with that parts count influence this, too. But are those three Little figures really worth it? I'd prefer him without them. They should have included at least the two Little bots with a Deluxe class figure. ​

Yea, it makes sense for him to be as big as RotF Megatron to be in scale with the other figures.
But what about SS DotM Megatron? Isn't he a true Leader class?

 

Movie figures or not, better to have better figures than just simple size.
